Description: The restaurant is noted for its excellent wine list and wonderful local...
The restaurant is noted for its excellent wine list and wonderful local and Tuscan dishes. Wine is a passion here - the cantina holds delights from both Tuscany (including a good selection of the so-called 'Super-Tuscans'). Great care has been taken in adapting the wine list to match whatever dishes happen to be in season, and you will find recommendations to match each course of your meal.Local funghi (mushrooms) in season, crostini Toscani after an old family recipe and good salami, home-made pasta (tortelli, ravioli, fettucine), gnocchi, zuppa Toscana and a good choice of main dishes. All dishes can be paired with a recommendation from the excellent wine cellar - one that has been growing for over forty years and is constantly changing and being added to. Always very good, typical Tuscan food.

Roberto the owner is very friendly and will recommend excellent wines at reasonable prices. Food is very good. You can chose from a set menu but recommend trying from main menu as well.

We had the Risotto, Ragu, Duck and Chicken and really enjoyed all of it. The owner was very friendly and helpful, made recommendations and went out of his way to make sure we were happy and comfortable. A warm, friendly atmosphere!

There are two parts to the restaurant - a basic pizza bar on one side and a fairly upmarket restaurant upstairs on the other. Both are excellent - the pizzas are top quality and the service is very quick. Sat outside it is the perfect spot to see everyone as it has a busy location in the "newer" part of... More

Visited the Alpino bar in Barga on loads of occasions during my stay in the town. In the morning and early afternoon they serve the most wonderful pastries with a range of coffee, they have a bar and an ice cream cart. It's a fab place to meet people as its right in the centre of the town and it's... More

Simple food, well cooked and presented but highlight was meeting and talking to Roberto even with his halting English. His enthusiasm shone through, he kept bringing us little extras higgling the local cuisine, the local cheeses with honey was a delight! He gave us an introduction to a friend of his who has his own vineyard in Montalcino, our next... More

We walked in off the street to dine at Alpino Ristorante (2nd floor). We did not research, read any reviews or book prior reservations but our dining experience turned out wonderful! Very pretty dining room with nice white tablecloths, food was outstanding simple fare with reasonable prices. We visited Barga in October so most of the other diners were local... More

my family and I gave been staying at the Hotel Alpino almost all of our visits to Barga. We love the location and the charm of the hotel. We eat most of the dinners at the Restaurant Alpino and host our family gatherings there as well. We have never been disappointed. When it comes to wine, I suggest you just... More

The ambiance was a bit dim, but to be fair it was Easter Sunday so I imagine most people were at home with their families. I had a pasta dish, which was really lovely – the eggs noodles are locally made and you can definitely taste the difference. My friend had the pork, though, and rated it as “average”.

This is a small restaurant on the second floor, and the owner of the hotel is the cook. Delicious meals and so relaxing.
