The restaurant is noted for its excellent wine list and wonderful local and Tuscan dishes. Wine is a passion here - the cantina holds delights from both Tuscany (including a good selection of the so-called 'Super-Tuscans'). Great care has been taken in adapting the wine list to match whatever dishes happen to be in season, and you will find recommendations to match each course of your meal.Local funghi (mushrooms) in season, crostini Toscani after an old family recipe and good salami, home-made pasta (tortelli, ravioli, fettucine), gnocchi, zuppa Toscana and a good choice of main dishes. Make sure you meet owner Roberto, he's fab!!

We walked in off the street to dine at Alpino Ristorante (2nd floor). We did not research, read any reviews or book prior reservations but our dining experience turned out wonderful! Very pretty dining room with nice white tablecloths, food was outstanding simple fare with reasonable prices. We visited Barga in October so most of the other diners were local... More

my family and I gave been staying at the Hotel Alpino almost all of our visits to Barga. We love the location and the charm of the hotel. We eat most of the dinners at the Restaurant Alpino and host our family gatherings there as well. We have never been disappointed. When it comes to wine, I suggest you just... More

The ambiance was a bit dim, but to be fair it was Easter Sunday so I imagine most people were at home with their families. I had a pasta dish, which was really lovely – the eggs noodles are locally made and you can definitely taste the difference. My friend had the pork, though, and rated it as “average”.

This is a small restaurant on the second floor, and the owner of the hotel is the cook. Delicious meals and so relaxing.

Dinner at Alpino was a bit of an odd experience. It seems to be quite litterally a 2-person operation, with the owner running the kitchen and the dining room all at once, with a bit of help from his wife (and probably a help in the kitchen, too). This results in a long wait between the time you are seated,... More

We have visited Barga on many occasions and generally stayed in the old town. This year we stayed in the Albergo Alpino with friends, for a change. We had eaten lunch here previously (3 years ago) so generally knew what to expect. It actually surpassed our expectations. The rooms were delightful, comfortable and spotless. The breakfast was excellent with cereals,... More

We had a fantastic dinner and I would agree with several other reviews that this was one of if not the best dinner we had in Italy. I know one of other reviews said the owner was not friendly however we found him delightful. The owner is also the chef and the waiter. He explained that things have slowed with... More
