Good, Tuscan food

For far out of the way Barga, this place shines. It has the routine Tuscan choices, but the pappardelle and the vegetable souffle were special. Good wine list, fairly prices. 80 euros for two who had two courses and a bottle and a glass of wine.

I had lunch for one at Scacciaguai recently while my boyfriend and his mates when offroad motorcycling. I sat outside on the tiny patio overlooking the gardens. I had a salad, followed by prawns on white bean mash. All very good although underseasoned.

If you're lucky enough to visit Barga, you must find your way (literally) to Scacciaguai for a memorable and tasty meal. We ordered the specials for the evening (I had a homemade chestnut pasta - which is the best pasta I have ever eaten! My husband ordered the ravioli - which was rich and so flavorful). We sat outside on... More

We had been here before and recommended it to friends who had also found it/ and it did not fail to satisfy!! We never have the tourist menu but felt quite safe doing so here! We had a fantastic 3 course meal including water wine and coffee for 13 euros a person!! Please leave a very healthy tip to enable... More

We haven't yet been to Venice, but of the places we ate in Naples, Rome and Florence, this was by far the best! The beef was tender, cooked perfectly, and incredibly flavorful. The pasta dishes melted in our mouths. Service was great! This is one of those memorable experiences that we will recall with a big smile!

We had the fixed price lunch (bargain at 13euros a head) which comprised a generous caprese salad, cous cous with roasted vegetables, grilled sausage with roast potatoes and a glass of wine. Our children had simple pasta dishes. Very friendly and efficient staff.

Another place we visited at the hotel's suggestion. I think everyone in there were tourists except for the servers who did happen to speak good English. I ordered the ravioli as a primi dish and the portion was so big I couldn't touch the fish entree that I ordered. The fish (Cod/white fish) of which I had a small bite... More

The day we were in town, it was a national holiday, so most things were shut, and there were lots of locals looking for food. So we were happy to get a table. The waiter spoke good English & was helpful. The whole meal. took 2 hours as they were very busy, but we were in no rush, so no... More

On one of our many trips to Barga we stopped in for dinner on the recommendation of our hotel. It had a great atmosphere, and the food was very good.

The service was very good, the waiter knew English and had an English menu. We ordered meat dishes, pasta and roast potatoes. The amount of food was small compared to the cost. The meat and pasta was delicious. The roast potatoes were below average, refried .... The room we ate was very small and uninteresting.
