As Barga goes into semi hibernation for the winter it is good to know that there are still some restaurants serving excellent food throughout the winter. As well as their excellent menu available at lunchtime and for dinner, Scacciaguai has introduced a pranzo veloce of two courses including wine/water/coffee for only €13! (Tuesday to Friday) The quality and service are... More

We stayed at Acchiappasogni B&B (which happens to be located above Scacciaguai) for a week, and had lunch / dinner at the restaurant 3 or 4 times. Overall, the food was very satisfying, good portions and value for money. Do not expect anything too creative - Scacciaguai serves traditional Tuscan fare, and they do it well. The menu is not... Greeted with a glass of prosecco, I had the truffle pasta, which was fantastic and my husband had turkey in a brown gravy, which sounds strange but he kept asking me if I was certain it wasn't veal--it too was delicious. Another odd but delicious dish was prawns over mashed potatoes that we shared. Service was good, food memorable and... More

My wife and I ate at Scacciaguai last week for about the fifth time over the last three years, we go there every time we stay in the area. Great front of house owner and we always eat his recommendation and wine choice. Truffle pasta to start and truffle fillet for main, both utterly lovely. They will never push a... More

For Barga, it is one of the high-end restaurants. Comparing to the few other restaurants we tried there, it looks a bit more posh and refined. So, be prepared to paid a bit more. But, it is worth it. The food and the wine that was recommended to us were excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful. The concept of... More

I must disagree with previous reviews most strongly. My wife and I visited the restaurant following the glowing reviews. We ordered Florentine steak between us and when it came it was so tough that one could not cut through it with a knife far less chew it. We complained to the manager and despite not paying for the steak it ruined our... More

The hotel recommended this restaurant so was a little sceptic at first but willing to give it a try. It isn't easy to find but was I glad I did. After the family with the screaming kid moved on and more adults came in the restaurant took on a very nice atmosphere. The food was incredible and to paraphrase some... More

Four of us had a great meal, including Florentine steak and a fish dish. You can watch your food being prepared on a TV screen. The chocolate desserts were fabulous!
