Very good food

We ate here whilst in Somerset and the portions and food were amazing! The wonderful aspect is they offer to grill or poach your fish as an alternative to frying. Love it!

Haddock cooked to order, takes ages and is then overcooked and dry round the edges, chips always taste slightly burned where they keep the oil to hot,if you use the restaurant portions are massive and expensive,I'm a big eater but even I would say smaller portions cheepe prices

A bland exterior to the building on a busy crossroads hides a well laid out restaurant that serves the most amazing cod and chips. My wife raved about the fishcakes. Portion sizes are huge and are great value for value. It has been graded 5 stars for cleanliness. Service was excellent. Well worth a visit.

A busy Sunday evening but still excellent service and tasty fish and chips - always high standards - can't say fairer than that!

As an avid fish and chip man, this place is just great. Superb chunks of cod or haddock with lovely chips. Service always friendly whether you eat in or take away. Always busy, a great sign with food cooked to order. I personally am happy to pay the price, others complain it's expensive but compare it to other take aways... More

My wife and I visit Shepton Mallett every year and on each visit we eat in at Whitstones. This year we went twice it was so good. The fish fillets are large; the batter is the best we have ever tasted - crisp and dry. The chips are good although the portions are ridiculously large. The service is friendly and... More

Great, fresh fish well cooked in a crisp batter which was almost too much for us. The chips were 'double cooked' crisp and dry but here the massive portions did defeat us. This place provides award-winning meals and is a regular stop for us. Thoroughly recommended.

Been here several times for takeout. Chips can be a bit hit & miss, not the best I've tasted, but the fish & burgers are always very nice. Can be an expensive take out meal though, but that seems to be the same @ most places I guess!
