Called in on a journey up the A 37. Convenient parking and excellent first impressions of a clean, light and airy restaurant. They were quite busy but we were quickly shown to a table and our order taken efficiently by a friendly waitress. Our fish and chips arrived quickly. The cod appeared to be straight out the frier, was a... More

Spotlessly clean, fast service, friendly helpful staff and excellent food. A varied menu with daily 'specials' and desserts. Has never varied in quality since the day it opened, always first class. Only tiny moan is the limited parking space.

Whitstones is, by far, the best fish restaurant we have ever eaten in. Folk come from miles around to see if it is as good as people say – I am sure that they are not disappointed. We are local and eat there at least once a week – their "Specials" really are! But if it's just fish and chips... More

Visited Whitstone's for early evening meal with two children. The service friendly and quick. All the portions were generous and I think my son's child portion of cod and chips was nearly as big as mine. All meals reasonable priced, a bit more expensive than some but definitely worth the extra.

Visited Whitstone's for an early evening meal with a friend. We opted for the classic cod and chips (with mushy peas on the side for me ). The food came really quickly and was a very generous portion. Our waitresses were friendly and efficient, offering sauces which again arrived quickly. The cod was beautifully cooked so that the fish was... More

Looking for a good, cheap, fulfilling lunch then this is the venue. Seniors Fish and Chips with Mushy Peas, Bread and Butter and Pot of Tea for £6.75 each does not get any better. The food is well cooked and does not take long to arrive, they also serve tempting deserts but the main meal is enough. The serving girls... More

We've noticed Whitstones many times during journeys through Shepton Mallet, and today we both fancied some proper Fish and Chips. We arrived at 11.45 and were directed through a spotless restaurant to an equally spotless table. We both opted for Cod, Chips and Mushy peas. I asked for some ketchup and was presented with a very generous ramekin. No extra... More
