50th Treat

My boyfriend loves fish & chips, and it's become a bit of a tradition to treat him to a chippy tea for his birthday, so why would I book anywhere else for his 50th? The only difference this year was I invited the family along too! We had a lovely evening, fast and friendly service, and way too... read more

Best fish and chips anywhere , not just in the West Country either . The only problem is that it is so good there is usually a problem parking.

Really great traditional fish and chips, good size portions and made fresh. They are always busy which means fresh food every time.

We live in Bath and always travel to Shepton Mallet to visit Whitstones, it may be a bit of a way to travel, but every time it is well worth the visit. We have never had a bad meal here, the portions are huge, and the food is always hot and fresh. The service is always welcoming, efficient and very... More

Been many times before, had always been excellent ! Pleasant welcome and a nice clean table away from the busy area by the front window. Order taken smartly enough and drinks arrived almost instantly, two portions of cod and chips then followed with one pea fritter as ordered, ok so far! Batter was almost honeycombe crisp and had definately been... More

Clean airy atmosphere and well spaced roomy tables. Convenient parking. Friendly, polite smiling staff. Casual but not slack. Great menu with all the classics. Good prompt service. Very generous portion of good quality tartar sauce served with my scampi, which was cooked to perfection along with the chips. Alcohol licensed with local ciders etc. Music a sensible volume. Very tasty... More

12pm on a Sunday. We ordered 2x large cod and chips for 2 adults and 2 kids. There was plenty. The fish was fantastic and better than my previous best which was Rick Steins chippy in Padstow. Batter was crisp and not greasy. The fish was huge, meaty and perfectly cooked. Curry sauce was a decent sized tub for once.... More

Greasy tasteless food which is definitely over priced nothing traditional about it.. Can't understand how people can be addicted to this food oh I suppose the customers can't cook then.

I have visited this restaurant several times, for lunch or evening meal. Always been more than happy with my meal. The service is excellent, the food is fantastic and plentiful and great value for money. The restaurant is spotlessly clean. Parking can be a problem though. Will be returning very soon.
