Ranked #19 of 116 restaurants in Hove
Cuisines: British
Dining options: Breakfast/Brunch
Description: A world of buttery biscuits and bold dark brownies, Cream teas served in vintage china tea-sets and good food with no fuss.We want you to feel like you have popped into your grandma's house for Welsh Rarebit and a slice of raspberry and rosewater Victoria sponge to follow, served on vintage china with a silver cake fork. For lunch there is a large menu of freshly prepared dishes, which includes an all-day breakfast section, the Spinach potato Rosti is a favourite, topped with melted cheese and an organic poached egg, and the proper homemade chips are not to be missed. The organic cappuccinos are smooth and fairly-traded and there are freshly pressed juices and fruit smoothies to be savoured. The Rosebud tea is also one to try from the large selection of loose teas, which looks as pretty as it tastes. Our intention is for our cafe and our food to be comforting and nourishing, and have tried to create a little haven in hove where you can maybe forget about the outside world for a brief moment as you enjoy your organic latte listening to Billlie Holiday.

This amazing local cafe is cosy and welcoming! The staff are lovely and helpful. The cooked food is yummy and freshly cooked and the cakes and desserts are scrumptious!. The furnishings are old and and the china pretty and mismatched which all adds to the lovely cosy atmosphere. The only downside is a bit cramped especially downstairs. When its sunny... More

Do not expect to have bacon with your fry-up. Apparently the chefs do not cook pork due to religious reasons. Sausages are all beef.

We visited on a bright Sunday morning about 10am. It was busy but we managed to get a table for 5 on arrival. It felt a little cramped inside, there is not much space, and the downstairs area is quite dark but still pleasant enough. The menu had enough options for everyone, and the food was significantly above basic cafe... More

A lunchtime trip with the girls and baby. Great service which is rare these days quite often, nice and genuine. Food was really really good and full of taste. Definitely try the deserts, they are to die for. Can't wait to go back!

Cute little cafe on Blatchington Road. I had the fishfinger sandwich with chips and it was delicious. Lots of cute vintage features. You must visit! :)

I used to eat here fairly often when it was under a different owner. Over the years this place has become too expensive and noisy to enjoy a quiet moment by myself with a breakfast. A full breakfast will cost £7.50!...and that is without a cup of cup. So you are looking at a tenner for a breakfast really...what! My... More

I'd been wanting to visit Ethel's Kitchen for quite some time, so when I finally got round to it, I was not disappointed. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, greeting us promptly as soon as we walked in. We were seated in the downstairs area, and was seen to immediately. The decor consists of bric-a-brac items which makes this... More
