A bold statement but this is one of the best if not the best eateries in Brighton/Hove. I almost hate adding to its growing acclaim because it will be difficult to get a seat and their most reasonable prices will start heading skyward, but they deserve it. The meats are prepared and cooked to perfection, their curries just right, and... More

What a great idea. Thai family owned Oriental supermarket incorporating a small street food style canteen. I've visited regularly as a customer at the shop where incidentally they stock a surprisingly wide range of oriental delicacies from frozen dim sum to fresh tofu. When they opened the canteen, I was there on the first day....and keep on going whenever I'm... More

I used to buy supplies for my restaurant from the lovely couple at Uni Thai and occasionally treat myself to lunch there ..so was delighted to find it still open on a Saturday night ...ok it's just a few tables squashed at the back of the shop ..no fancy decor or service..but if all you want is an authentic tasty... Lots of people seem to like this place as its different - at the back of a Thai / Asian supermarket you'll find a number of squished tables where Thai food is served. Its a different environment and actually very reminiscent of the kind of places you'd find in South East Asia - the look and feel I thought very... More

We have visited Unithai for many years for Far Eastern supplies, but not as a restaurant. On this occasion friends had been raving about it, so we thought we must pay a visit. As others have said, you simply would not even realise it served food unless you had been in and walked around. The decor and approach is very... More

Say it quietly, but snuck away at the back of Unithai supermarket is the best kept secret kitchen in Brighton and Hove! Personal recommendations: Red Duck Curry & Unithai special rice.

We have visited this little cafe several times and have always loved the great, authentic food. However, we have seen the prices creep up from reasonable to bordering on the pricey, and on our most recent visit we waited over an hour, with no explanation, other diners were served before us, having reserved a table - how, with their 'no... I've been to unithai countless times and it never fails to offer amazing Thai food. You could be sat by the freezers in the shop, but that's part of the charm. The shared dining means you end up talking to other customers which is lovely. The food itself is fresh and packed full of flavour. Each dish tastes completely different... More
