What a hidden gem of a Pub!!

We found this pub through the listing in the Sawday's pub app (recommended!) and were not disappointed. Hidden away in the back streets of Hove, the food and drinks were excellent, as was the very pleasant service!

The restaurant / pub, is lively ,friendly, and good service, but that's where it stops. The food is extremely expensive and very poor quality.the wine list is excellent but once again, well over priced, similar bottles in good class restaurants, are around £4 to £5 cheaper. If your looking for just a drink it's ok, for food forget it, overpriced,... More

From reading the food menu (and the prices) you'd assume the meals would be of a reasonably high standard. I chose the ribeye steak, priced at £20 and requested it rare - it arrived well done. I got it sent back, during which the manager tried to imply that in the kitchen light, the steak was indeed pink in the... More

It may just have been an off night but the food was really a let down. Flavourless and nuclear heat on the wild garlic soup and pork as a maincourse was lacking flavour and overcooked. Shame because this is such a great place but food had gone down hill since I last ate here which to be fair was about... More

The forages used to be the Gold of Sunday Roasts- we hadn't been for a while, preferring to Roast at the Shakespeare's head or the Chimney house. However, we decided to give it a go today and were somewhat underwhelmed, the back of the pub lacks in presence in particular. The decor is somewhat confused, with the furnishings just looking... Have been to The Foragers a lot over the last 7-8 years. Loved the place - great food, great atmosphere and great value. Not this time. Some of the food was bland, the portions were reduced from before and the service was slow. We booked a specific table and didn't get it. The waiting staff had little time to go... More

In my humble opinion this is The best pub in the world and believe me I have travelled far and wide and have never found a nicer pub. It is the combination of fabulous food; both in terms of quality and inventiveness, friendly staff and the fact it is extremely close to home. But seriously for me it is the... More

We have been popping in for lunch for a while and it never disappoints. It is a great traditional cosy pub with a great kitchen serving interesting dishes. We always have a lovely friendly welcome. We are particularly partial to the moules marinière . Definitely worth a visit and worth going out of your way.

Not a bad roast dinner but it's quite expensive for the quality. The beef was a little dry and the potatoes weren't great. Also there wasn't enough gravy and the request for extra didn't arrive. On the the plus side veg was good. I was still hungry though.
