San Gusme is a magical little hilltown with an authentic, local feel rather than a spot seemingly manufactured for tourists. And Augusto's restaurant is a centerpiece. Had an evening meal there and it was fantastic a bit pricey but so is everywhere in Tuscany. The meal was very tasty and the service was good. I would go back.

I had an amazing lunch today at this excellent restaurant in San Gusme. The food was cooked perfectly, the service was excellent, and the ambiance was perfect. I had a pasta with seafood cooked in a Sicilian style but in a unique manner that I have never expeinced before. It was delicious!! The canoli desert was also delicious and unique.... More

After 3 weeks of Tuscany it was need to see some different dishes from sicily. the food was delicious and the little place san gusme was very nice. I had the cannoli dolci which was delicious. People who think the owner is not friendly do not understand his humor. We loved it and come back if we are in the... More

We were recommended to come here by our American friends and we loved it so much we came back again! We never ordered off the menu. Agostino brought us course after course of delectable food. And what a beautiful presentation! We had an amazing time. Loved meeting his 2 sons and his wife Francesca. Amazing rolls Francesca! And thanks for... More

We ate the first night on recommendation and 3 of the four courses were good (1 was sent back for another option). Service was OK, but a bit slow and the owner (apparent) was not the most friendly. As we had been in tuscany for a week and wanted something very close, gave it another shot on our last night... More

This has always been an attractive restaurant, with its vaulted ceilings and location in the charming little village of San Gusme. However, it is now under new management and we very much enjoyed the hospitality and Sicilian cooking of the new, Sicilian owners. We've travelled through Sicily and not had better Arancini or Pasta all Norma, the food was really... More

Travelling throughout Tuscany with 6 people from the US we were recommended to eat at La Porta del Chianti... it was a terrific dining experience. We were welcomed by Agostino (owner) and he offered to select the entire meal for us and every one of the 6 courses was better than the previous one. Just amazing, we spent almost 4... More

We traveled with a group in the wine trade, and had a couple of preplanned meals booked at La Porta. Sicilian owner Augustino looks after the front of the restaurant and is ready to accommodate any request with a smile. His wife Francesa is the chef, and seems to be miracle worker behind the scenes. Simple, perfectly cooked dinners are... More

We ate at this restaurant on three occasions over two weeks in August 2013. It is under new management which must be borne in mind when reading reviews prior to about March 2013. There were 9 of us present on each occasion ranging in age from 7 to 74. The first two meals were excellent, but the third was quite... More
