Like others, I had read some good reviews ( not TA ones), that said this was a good place. We should have been tipped off when we were the ONLY people there for lunch. Not that it was terrible, but the food was very average. Service was almost non-existant and we really felt like we were... read more

This place! I should have trusted instincts and walked right out, ignoring the guidebooks waxing on about the lovely courtyard (but not the food...funnily enough) First thing you notice when ushered inside is that the walls are decorated by graffiti....and I don't mean interesting or amusing or remotely talented graffiti, more like 'Paulo woz ere 'n got pissed yeh loved... Unimaginative, low-taste, over-salted versions of dishes that can be lovely elsewhere (penne Norma, spaghetti vongole, grilled sausage, calamari), awful house red, mis-tuned radio as soundtrack, and they tried to over-charge. Meh. Maybe the pizzas are OK.

A friendly place tucked away in a courtyard away from the tourist bustle. Food was nice but nothing special.

wine was awful (the house red - which we were made to have, even though we requested the Nero D'Avola from the menu). food was very poor quality -- but the service!!! we ordered 3 starters (2 spaghetti barocco, one spag vongole), 3 mains (scaloppine limone and the steak). we were served (after a long wait, during which two tables... I have eaten at il Barocco many times and have found it wonderful--in particular when the place is not full and there is time to talk with Salvina and Paolo, the owners. We always eat what they recommend, and it is never fish, because Noto is inland (an attack-reviewer made this mistake). The sausage, the pasta, and the wines have... More

This restaurant was mentioned by Lonely Planet but it was not at a very good level as others. The service was very poor and the staff was not very friendly. The fish used for the appetizer didn't seem to be really fresh, and the quality of food was modest. Finally, the wine that they proposed us (apparently home-made) tasted as... More

We went to this restaurant last week during our visit to Sicily. We read in our tourist guide that it would be a good choice. The restaurant food was one of the worst we have had in Sicily and I would even dare to say in all our trips. The person that brought the food and serviced the tables, which... More
