Last March my wife and I skied at Le Houches ( pronounced Lu zoosh) in France, 5 miles west of Chamonoix. While skiing, I noticed to the left of the slope, a few minutes above the base, a wooden chalet with large deck. The deck was full of dining skiers. I stopped and quickly noticed three things which I had... More

The lovely sunny terrace of this nicely constructed chalet has wonderful views and could make for a great place to eat. Sadly, I found the staff (especially the manager) to be disinterested and not very friendly, and the prices to be eye-popping. 12 euros for a cake???! We were going to have lunch but whilst I understand that on-slope restaurants... More

Stopped here for some lunch when the weather started to get bad and visibility was poor - and how worth it it was. The staff as always on the pistes were extremely busy but they were nice and polite and asked us to wait a short time whilst they got a table ready. We had a wonderful lunch and treated... More

Excellent chalet restaurant on the slopes of Les Houches. Large sunny terrace with a splendid view. The service is friendly and the menu should satisfy anyone. The prices are conform with what is asked at other restaurants with the same prestige in the valley of Chamonix.

Access only on skiis half -way down the main piste that returns skiiers all the way to the bottom of the slopes from the top. It is a lovely timbered chalet overlooking the neighbouring mountains - so a great location to have a hearty lunch after an energetic morning's skiing. The atmosphere is very good and the staff very friendly.... More

Great location. Coffee is €5 and a small apple tart €11. All tasted good, but there are better for less. The wifi is available but only used for the boss (code not given to customers!) Could be great, needs slightly lower pricing, a bit more heating and the wifi code adding to the menu.

If you want a tepid drink served by fierce staff at similarly fierce prices then this is the place for you! That said, the terrace in the sun is a great place to sit and be growled at ....

This is a typical ski slope restaurant to avoid. The food is mediocre and expensive. The staff are relatively friendly, but as it's poorly organized so it takes forever to get a cold sausage. The location is nice!

Finally a place where you can combine good food and amazing view on the slops. You never pay too much when the quality is excellent. Of course I wouldn' t recommend it to a group of students who are looking for cheap french fries but rather to people enjoying a high quality lunch...

I have no problem paying for good service and great food but this provides neither Service is terminally slow and to pay the prices here you have to be mad. There are a number of great places on the slopes in Les Houches. You can even spend a lot of money like at the Vielles Luges but there the food... More
