Excellent pizzas, good real ale and efficient service

I went with my wife and two sons last week to the Chequered Skipper for a evening meal. We all decided to have pizzas. Several types were on offer in both 9" and 12" size, you could also create your own from a range of toppings, which I did using bacon, ham and salami, it was delicious. The rest... read more

My wife and I wanted a simple but tasty lunch and we found it here. The pub was bustling with a mix of young and old. We were made to feel welcome and was served our food promptly. We will definitely go back. The one observation we had, was there was no background music on

We met at The Chequered Skipper after a day out swimming. Our party were seated in a separate dining room and the whole place was clean and fresh. The food orders (for a large group) were managed quickly and accurately, and the food was superb. Just wish I'd known there was dairy-free options available for dessert then I would have... More

Once again Ian and his team produced another great meal! I know I keep on about my local but it is a great pub with fantastic food. The new menu was on and I had a brilliant steak pudding and my wife had the burger absolutely brilliant, pudding was the chocolate brownies and I had crumble. Washed down by good... More

We visited The Chequered Skipper for a Saturday family lunch. The pub was lovely and staff greeted us when we arrived. The food was all very tasty and perfectly portioned. My son loved his pizza! Great value for money. We will definitely be back soon.

A little of the beaten track, but an enjoyable meal at a reasonable price, in a beautiful little village. Watch out for the peacocks outside as they can be a bit boisterous.

Couple next to us left early as random dog settled under their table during their meal and the dogs owner was nowhere to be seen. I can understand dog friendly restaurants for owners who do not want to be parted from their pooches but not random dogs roaming freely amongst the dining tables. Will not be returning as prefer to... More

Dear Roberta I am glad you enjoyed you food, but sorry to hear that you don't like dogs. As a rural pub on the beautiful Nene Way we do naturally welcome dogs and children, we also have have areas where dogs are not accommodated and we ask that guests with dogs are not located in these areas, conversally you may... I arranged a business breakfast meeting for 40. I advised the staff i would be there at 7am to set up. As i drove in at 6.35 the doors opened and a warm welcome invited me in for some tea. The staff were polite and helpful nothing was to much trouble they went out of there way to make sure... More
