Walked 1 mile and it is closed--for good. Out of business! Trip advisor says I have to write at least 100 characters for my review. Closed. Closed.

Our concierge made reservations for us on Valentine's day, and due to the slightest mixup, we had to wait a few (very few, like 10) minutes to get our table. The owner, though, was very focused on making sure we were happy, and it turned out to be a highlight of the trip. I like to try new things, and... More

El Estribo is a hard restaurant to review honestly because the owner is a charming friendly man who tries to make you feel welcome and involved. The problem was that the food was so-so the night we ate there, the service was mediocre at best, and the singing the owner performs in order to entertain his guests is surprisingly good... More

Four of us dined at Restaurant El Estribo last night. The atmosphere is much better on the inside than it appears on the outside. My only complaint with the décor, would be the plastic chairs. They should be replaced with a more substantial chair. Service was very good. I believe we were greeted and waited upon by one of the... More

The food is excellent and the service is also prompt and friendly. Unfortunately, the live music -- mandolin and acoustic guitar -- was amplified for a restaurant three times the size of this one. These instruments didn't need to be amplified for this venue, the music detracted from the atmosphere. Tone it down, people!

The food is very good and the ambiance is great and extremely friendly. If you play a guitar, feel free to ask the owner to borrow his, and play it (as I did). He enjoyed it. While then food is not spectacular, you would be hard pressed to find a better place in this area.

This is a hidden gem in Isla Verde. From the outside it may not look very appealing, but let that not deceive you. We went here on our first night in San Juan, after which we tried several restaurants all over for one whole week (including some high rated very expensive ones); but nothing else could top the experience we... the owners are as friendly people as you will ever meet, like having mom serve dinner, and the husband plays live music. the prices are very reasonable, the 4 star rating is due to the fact that this is good puerto rican food, not the best puerto rican food. if you are in isla verde and want to try local... They offered me a reinforced chair more than once. Thanks for pointing out my large mass buddy. The food was worse than terrible. They recommended the estribo which was disgusting. How can you mess up fried cheese? They did. I have no idea how this rated so high on trip advisor. Don't waste your money. Avoid this place and the... More

Love the food! We tried the stuffed chicken breast with plantains and guava sauce. Succulent!!! YOU HAVE TO TRY THE NUTELLA FLAN! (custard) it is the bomb. The "chorizo al vino" (chorizo with wine) was an excellent appetizer and their homemade sangría was really good and refreshing. The staff were very nice and the owner is an excellent host and...
