This restaurant was close to our hotel and we ended up ordering take out often. I loved the Mofongo and Cassava. It was about $5 per side dish and it was a huge yummy portion. I also ordered the mac and cheese ( off the kids menu but they were nice to make it for me since i am a... More

Sometimes you just want to have a meal where you can dress down and enjoy good food at a fair price. Don Jose is a small restaurant with a very casual atmosphere where portions are large for the price and the food reflects local cuisine. Having been there only once, I can say the soups that we ordered were excellent... More

First of all the place was very out of date and without good hygiene. Second, the food I must say that Im not a tourist and puertorrican cuisine is not like how they serve honestly! We visited for a coupon offer we bought and we ordered churasco and mofongo and it tasted really bad. The meat was all raw even... More

Stopped at Don Jose for a Cuban sandwich. The service was good, but the sandwich took over 15 minutes to be delivered. The sandwich was great. Located on Isla Verde Ave. within walking of many hotels and rentals. Not fancy, but the food is good and the prices are very fair. They are open 24/7.

I ordered a cuban sandwich. It was OK. Seriously,...kinda of a "blah" review, but I guess that is a direct reflection on the restaurant. The sandwich had ham, pork, cheese and pickles on it. The roll it was served on was very dry, almost hard. The service was slow at not at all friendly even when I tried to be... More

Don Jose is located in between El San Juan and the Ritz Carlton Hotel. Went there for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised. Eggs and bacon were good. Bacon done extra crispy, just the way I like. The Chicken with rice and beans was also good. A generous portion for $6.50.

My experience had noting to do with the food or service because I didn't eat here. I walked in around 9 PM it was dimly lit, the man who greeted friendly but at the same time I got an uncomfortable feeling but most of all the place smelled so I left and went down the street to a restaurant I... We had mofongo at Don Jose for dinner one night. The food and service were both excellent, and we would definitely go back if we had the chance. Easy walk from our Isla Verde hotel.

We just have breakfast at Don Jose and went for a walk on the beach. We are so pleased with the server, food and value that made us review this place before getting back to our hotel room. Food was everything you would imagined as homemade and fresh coffee. Definitely will come back.
