Nice setting

We stumbled across this restaurant while we were meandering around some of the nicest scenery in the North East. The sun was up on a late Easter Afternoon and with the friendly welcome from the waitress who took our order the good feeling continued. The menu was varied, from full meals to snacks... read more

Great local produce makes this a favourite restaurant for meals, snacks or just coffee and cakes. Although the menu showcases the best of Scottish produce, there is an American flavour as the owner is from the USA. So the milk shakes here are the real Transatlantic deal, the brownies are special and the burgers sizzle with flavour.

Lunch today was supposed to be a celebration however after waiting nearly an hour for food to arrive it was overcooked with dried out burger, bacon as solid as a rock and soggy broccoli with meagre portion of chicken. After half an hour we were informed the kitchens were backed up but nothing offered while we waited. Child s meal... More

Lunch with a friend today . Fresh tasty food served by friendly staff . Service was a little slow but the food made up for it . Recommend the olive tapanade and humours dish well priced at £7.50 and ample to actually share. Lovely coffee too.

We recently enjoyed an evening meal in this charming restaurant. The welcome was warm and genuine - we were impressed by the restaurants ambience in the evening, with just the right level of background music, which changed the mood subtly from the daytime vibe. The food choices, based largely on carefully selected produce from local suppliers, were all appealing with... More

The relaxed atmosphere is evident as soon as you step inside and are greeted at the door. There is a formal eating area and a more relaxed area with sofas. The menu is quite extensive and is supplemented by a special board. Food is prepared for you so takes a little while to reach the table but is presented beautifully.... More

Looks great when you step inside, nice decoration and nice atmosphere. Menu looks great and mostly the food is good. Only one bad experience with the Cullen Skink, watery and loaded with potato to hide the lack of fish. Great wee shop next door to restaurant too, ample parking.

The Gadies is a beautiful rural restaurant with great food. Local produce and friendly staff. The menu is a little expensive but you get what you pay for. They have a good selection of alcoholic beverages and even have an IPA on tap. I couldn't fault our Valentine's meal and the roaring fire made it even more relaxing.

The staff are welcoming and friendly (although the person taking things to the table wasn't sure what it was she had). Food took a little while to arrive but generally we were happy with the experience. I've been before on a few occasions for coffee and cake later in the afternoon which I've always been happy with.

My partner only went in for a coffee and a slice of cake, however the staff were really friendly and even let us carry our mugs through to the gallery whilst looking round! We weren't there to spend a lot of money, however nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they were accommodating, friendly and very polite. In... More
