The pub benefits from being in a great location, over looking the canal. The pub itself has changed hands in the last 2 years, which means the menu has changed, as has several other things. Staff can not be faulted, as they are certainly friendly and efficient. The menu would benefit from being updated, with the selection being quite unimaginative... More

First visited this pub in October 2012 for lunch whilst in Carnforth visiting a sick relative, I have been back many times since for both lunch and evening meals an have never been disappointed, the food , service, atmosphere and staff are all 5*....Lovely Country Pub set right on the Canal..Highly recommended.

Great beers (bottled and draught), great entertainment (live artists) and great food. What more is there to say. On a summers evening it a a joy to sit outside with a pint of 'Old Speckled Hen' and watch the canal boats in the basin.

We visited looking for somewhere to eat. Ordered food and drinks and went outside to sit down and wait. The food didn't take very long to arrive. Good quality and a generous amount and very tasty.

After waiting an hour for food were told it was an hour and a half wait. Everyone in the pub was complaining, one table had recieved half of their main meals and had to wait 20 mins for the other half. Another table waited 30mins for a menu!! Each time manager was brought out she just smirked and repeated "I... More

Ended up here on Valentines day. The owner had gone to a massive amount of effort with decor and little extras on the tables. Despite the effort it's not what I would call a romantic pub. It's more a decent country pub. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was surprisingly good (I say surprisingly only because no... More

Wasn't a planned visit. Just passed and decided to call in. We were in two couples with 5 kids between us. The staff were really welcoming and after a little wait we were served some really top quality home cooked food. Everyone including the kids emptied their plates. Can highly recommend the venue
