outstanding.

Have been here only twice, each time the food and the atmosphere were very good. We travelled 72 miles to go back the second time and it was well worth it. Improvements in the building are one the way and can only add to what is already there. No second thoughts in recommending this inn.

Hi Fellerman Thanks so much for the support. It's always great to hear from people who have enjoyed their meal and the changes we've made to the food, service and pub in general. As with all our guests, we look forward to seeing you again soon. Best Regards Marcus More

Not your typical pub grub. Small portions & rather expensive I thought! But the new owners & staff were very friendly and I wish them every success. Don't try & be fancy, give carnforth something it needs. Good pub grub! Decrease the prices, increase the portions & watch them come through the door!

Hi Lisa Many thanks for the comments. We're a tad shocked though, if there's been any contstant complaint since opening it's that our portions are too big! We bought a beautiful dessert trolley with us to Carnforth and it's hardly been touched as a majority of our customers are too full after their mains. Our gammon, burger and steaks are... More

Stopped here when passing through, no food available, as the kitchen only opens Wednesday to Sunday. So only had a drink. This place looks like it has not had any t.l.c since the 70,s - very outdated, with wooden picnic benches outside that are rotting and weeds and dead flowers in the two hanging baskets! The drinks were fine though,... More

Hi Lynne Thanks for the review, all you mention is accurate. We're only just on a month in to taking over and many of the issues are being addressed. There are new hanging baskets arriving this very afternoon and the new garden furniture is on order! We're very aware the old tables and chairs are past their best and have... More

We arrived Saturday evening without a booking, 4 adults 3 young children. The staff told us the pub had just changed hands and only just started serving food again. We were very impressed with the service, atmosphere and food- lovely location, could perhaps do with some refurbishment, but overall very pleased , thank you

I had seen banners advertising the fact that the Canal Turn was under new management. I had never been before after hearing not so great reviews but today I thought I would give it a go. A great location overlooking the canal and marina and seeing the barges and long boats moored along with duck and swans made it a... More

Hi Gillian Thank you so much for the lovely words. It is, as you point out, both unique and lovely as a location and a great place to have a drink or meal - not that we're bias or anything! ;-) Garden furniture for the terrace will be here soon and we will start serving outside once summer, which seems... As other reviews, the Canal Turn " has gone through the mill of late" It had been closed for a couple of weeks, so I popped in early June, for a quick pint, the place still looks a little run down, but can see the place will be pushing food and coffees etc. What I found a little disturbing was... Hi Dave Many thanks for taking the time to comment on The Canal Turn, a post made all the more impressive as it's your first ever Tripadvisor review which even manages to come complete with industry terminology (wet trade?) - welcome to the fold! We are obviously sorry if you felt things were overbearing, but Wednesday was our first week... More

The Canal Turn has had a difficult time recently, we wanted to give it a try to see what the new tenants had to offer with regards to food. We were pleasantly surprised by the menu and quality of the food. Very interesting menu, mixture of basics and something special. Both our meals were very tasty, full of flavour. The... More

Hi Helen Thank you for the kind words and coming to visit us so early in the new venture. We look forward to seeing you again in the near future; there will always be a lovely bottle of wine (not to mention food) waiting! Best Marcus More

Disappointing visit today , used to be a favourite stop off point , now shabby and unloved look about it. New landlords started new menu just today and only had meal service in certain places (not outside) so should not knock them too much. Going to be very hard work to bring it back to what it once was but... More
