Excellent food but not enough serving staff

The food was 10 out of 10 and didn't take long to be served however the queue to order and pay was lengthy as there was one assistant who was rushed off his feet taking orders, payment and providing cutlery/crockery for the orders. The rooms are nice with the artwork on the walls. Maybe they were... read more

If you are into films you will be into the Carnforth Station cafe. Scene of the famous Brief Encounter, the tea room has been restored as to how it was in the film. They sell the usual range of tea room food and there is an interesting museum attached.

If you plan on visiting the Carnorth Station Heritage Centre, the Refreshment room is a must see. Freshly baked scones and cakes which are baked in house, bit pricey, but well worth it - they're massive The room itself

I stopped in here while waiting for a train I had a toastie which was nice. The staff were polite and helpful. The food is a bit pricey but it's nice to sit somewhere a bit different and pass the time.

The Brief Encounter Refreshment Room is designed to look like the one in the film of Brief Encounter, which was substantially shot on location here. It's adjacent to the Heritage Centre, so can be visited without purchasing anything, but is recommended for a pot of tea (made with real tea leaves - no tea bags here!) and a cake or... More

Had two coffees - from a machine and ok, I guess. Nothing special, Wife had date cake - very nice. I went for savoury option - cinnamon toast. The menu announced 'homemade bread' with cinnamon butter. Sounds good, eh? I got a cold piece of cheap thin Asda bread with margarine scraped on - when it had been hot, and... More

Brought my in-laws here to see the visitors centre and decided to get some lunch whilst we were here. It was the first time for all. On entering the refreshment room we found a table but there were no menus etc so we waited thinking it must be table service. After a good few minutes we decided no one was... More

This is the 2nd time we have had the immense pleasure of enjoying this little hidden gem. The first time was last year on our 1st anniversary the 2nd was this week. We was made to feel so welcome. The feel of the place is quite remarkable, and very nostalgic. Andrew the owner has gone to so much trouble to... More

Only had cake and tea... But all home baked and absolutely divine. Thankfully we live far from here otherwise my waistline would tell the story for me!
