Lunch as part of organised excursion from Funchal to Porto Moniz

I've just reviewed Orca Restaurant Bar but I think this is where I actually was. Maybe it's one & the same place. Apologies for any confusion!

As other people have commented this appears to be a favoured stop on the West Tour of Madeira. We ordered out food mid morning and that is when they started cooking it! Pleasant, if slightly rustic and underseasoned vegetable soup to start. Our party had Tuna, Chichen and Beef, all very overdone and therefore dry. Bananas and Ice Cream to... More

Things must have changed since the last few reviews as I have eaten here recently and the food was excellent and the service was fine. Had the limpets to start (very nice) and the Espada for main course (local fish kind of looks like a large black pike but the white meat is excellent). I would recommend but others don't... More

Stopped here for lunch whilst on an organised trip to the west of Madeira. Vegetable soup followed by Scabbard fish (wonderful!), potatoes, rice and vegetables. Ice-cream and bananas to follow. The coffee will knock your socks off, it is so strong!

We had lunch at the restaurant Orca which was already booked as part of a day trip. The meal was 3 courses with a bottle of red and White wine included and coffee to follow and cost 10 euros each. The food was good and the service very well organised. It was very busy but the staff coped very well.... More

We had a nice lunch sitting on the terrace in the sunshine watching the sunbathers around the lava pools and gazing out at the ocean. My sea bream was fresh and perfectly cooked.

Arrived just after 1400 so the place was fairly empty so expectations were not high. The staff were friendly and helpful. The four of us all had fish meals which were value for money as was the wine. All in all a great place for a very pleasant lunch.

Outstanding food and service. The meals were huge and you could not eat everything they gave you, there was at least a 100 people in here when we arrived and it was only 10 past 12 at lunch time. The view of the natural pools and the highs waves crashing on the rocks outside will be a memory we will... More

Beautiful views from the dining room out to sea. Food was variable, but big portions. Espada fish with passion fruit was nice, the sauce not too sweet. Tuna steak was overcooked. The restaurant was quiet when we visited due to the season and service was efficient though not particularly exceptional. Views are the most compelling reason to recommend visiting.

Unless there is a tour bus in town, this is a great place to go to see the lava pools and overlook the ocean. Spectacular views of the waves crashing against the rocks. Food was okay but the view makes up for it. Reasonably priced.
