Found it by a coincidence on a rainy day. One of those places I actually do not like to share – a dining experience ‘that goes to the book’.

This place was recommended to us by several people so we had high expectations. We should have left the moment we were immediately treated poorly. The older lady (think soup nazi from Seinfeld), came to take our order, and when we were not ready yet, huffed and stormed away. She came back 15 minutes later and dismissively asked if we... More

We wandered into this restaurant when we were recently visiting Pienza. The restaurant across was fully booked so we asked the owners of Il Rossellino if they could accommodate our family. Lucky for us we got the last 4 seats available. From the moment we walked in we felt comfortable and welcome, a bit like visiting the grandparents of a... More

We dined at Il Rossellino last night and felt we should make a comment. It is a very small restaurant, perhaps no more than 15 covers. The menu is small too, as you would expect. It is run by Enzo and and his wife and their food philosophy is simple: local and quality. They will not serve something just because... More

This is a tiny restaurant, seating at most a dozen people. The couple who run won't win a congeniality contest but more than make up for it with their choreographed service and cuisine. The kitchen can't be much bigger than a sleeper compartment on a train, yet everything we ate was freshly prepared. The menu is limited but thoughtful and... More

Delicious, atypical food, beautifully presented in modest portions. We have lived here for 15years , Montisi & Trequanda , and this is our favorite. Cosy in winter, terrazzo in mild weather.

You must be ready for a slow pace here--the older couple do the order taking, cooking, and serving, so if you are in a hurry, don't go. Better for adults than for small kids who might get itchy waiting. Everything made to order. The menu is not as "typical" as other osterias, i.e., no assorted board of salumi & pecorino.... More

I had a bacon and leek flan and it was to DIE for! I also had pici with pomodoro sauce and I just couldn't believe how such a simple dish could be so good! I ended with a chocolate soufflé, which was outstanding. The restaurant is run by this old couple, its very small and fantastic for a casual dinner... More

Hidden away in the corner of La Piazza di Spagna sits this little haven. You have to look carefully to find it though as other Restaurants are more obvious with their outdoor seating. The Sunday evening we walked by there were no outdoor seats and only room for 13 people inside. We figured that an elderly couple, probably in their... More

This meal was one of the outstanding ones of our trip to Italy thus far. We happened upon this tiny place in a lovely little square in the historic centre of the town when all other options appeared to be full. The elderly couple who run the place welcomed us warmly, particularly when we made the attempt to speak Italian... More
