We are looking for special places in each region we visit trying to get a taste of the local cuisine. We had a beefsteak and pasta, none of them being tasty (we are quite familiar with the Italian cuisine after many vacations in this country). If you want just to get a meal for a decent price it's OK, otherwise... More

La Chiocciola has both indoor and outdoor seating 50 meters from the old city of Pienza. Maria, the owner-chef, upon learning about my gluten intolerance issue, prepared special gluten free pasta, desserts and breakfast cakes. The food was among the best I had ever eaten. Those with normal diets also found the food to be excellent because it is all... More

I really have no complaints about the meal I had here. My ravioli and tiramisu were homemade and just right, wine was good and reasonably priced, service was always with a smile... Sure the decor is a bit outdated but it was warm and friendly with the general feeling of dinner at grandma's house, which was kind of nice :-)

We have been there twice, first time only me and my wife, we ate good and it was pleasant to sit outside. the food was served fast and the food was of high quality. The second time I brought some friends with me, we were 8 persons, we sat outside for an hour without anybody to come and serve us.... More

Every time we have visited Pienza, we would park in the lot and head past this restaurant to visit the lovely centro storico...well, not this time. Though we had a dearth of choices in the old town, we made a special trip back to La Chiocciola that evening. We had a wonderful meal starting with a variety cheese plate of... More

We had our last dinner in pienza here and I have nothing to complain about. House wine was good, starters also (and very big!). We then took handmade pici, one with ragu and one with truffle and pecorino and they were excellent. Quite cheap as well.

in via Mario Mencattelli in the small city (if you can call it city) of Pienza, in Tuscany. There is this small and nice restaurant Trattoria La Chiocciola. The food was very good, fresh pasta, good sheep meat with salad, reasonable prices and the best wine in the world, a red vino nobile di Montepulciano !!!

Delightful, authentic Italian family restaurant with excellent food and hospitality. Everyone was exceptionally warm and welcoming. Food was excellent! The deserts are fabulous - home made by their pastry chef daughter. A family run business and it shows that they care about the experience of their customers. Good location for visiting Pienza, a wonderful gem in Tuscany. By the end... More

Although staff doubted when we came in it wasn't already time to close for lunch, the pizza was incredibly good. Flat dough, no fat American pizza. With sausages , Mmmmmmm buonissima.
