Nice one

We had our last dinner in pienza here and I have nothing to complain about. House wine was good, starters also (and very big!). We then took handmade pici, one with ragu and one with truffle and pecorino and they were excellent. Quite cheap as well.

in via Mario Mencattelli in the small city (if you can call it city) of Pienza, in Tuscany. There is this small and nice restaurant Trattoria La Chiocciola. The food was very good, fresh pasta, good sheep meat with salad, reasonable prices and the best wine in the world, a red vino nobile di Montepulciano !!!

Delightful, authentic Italian family restaurant with excellent food and hospitality. Everyone was exceptionally warm and welcoming. Food was excellent! The deserts are fabulous - home made by their pastry chef daughter. A family run business and it shows that they care about the experience of their customers. Good location for visiting Pienza, a wonderful gem in Tuscany. By the end... More

Although staff doubted when we came in it wasn't already time to close for lunch, the pizza was incredibly good. Flat dough, no fat American pizza. With sausages , Mmmmmmm buonissima.

I have been going to La Chioccola for many years, normally near the start of my stay because I know the food and service will be good and I can enjoy it before I have got my "Italian" head on. Other places can be a bit overwhelming if you haven't settled in yet and don't speak Italian. The traditional local... More

Ciao ! I moved , from Florence , to Chicago on 2007. My last time at " La Chiocciola " was on 2005. 9 years ago . While visiting my family , on Sept 2014 , I took a tour in Val D'Orcia and stopped here again. I was pleased to see them still there. VERY COMPETITIVE PRICES and DELICIOUS... More

I noticed large Italian families going into La Chicciola, on one of our visits to Pienza. I thought about it and realized it was a Sunday. Hm m . Sign of a good restaurant. I filed it away, and then in July 2014 I reserved a table for 18 on the shady terrace of this trattoria and crossed my fingers.... More

I noticed Trattoria La Chicciola a year ago while visiting Pienza. I noticed because it was a Sunday and large Italian families were pouring into the place. A VERY good sign! So this year, and guiding a group of 18 Americans, I made a reservation. Garden terrace table, in the shade, and sparkling when we arrived. That was just the... More

The location is not so good, just off the car park, but do not let the location put you off. The staff are extremely friendly and the food is very good. This place is always busy with Italians and reservations are advised at the weekends, but it is not always necessary. Defo worth a try if you are in the... More

Pretty expensive restaurant! Looks ok from the outside. We had high hopes because of the looks. It was a big disapointment. Tried the veal with redwine sauce, the sauce was red wine poured over the meat. Looked like pink vomit! The meat itself was cooked right bit it all tasted no good! My wife had veal with mushroom sauce, and... More
