Good food

Nice restaurant with both locals and tourists there. Some different preparations of typical tuscan food. We had pice cacao e pepe, Ribalitta and a nice crostone with local cheese and prosciutto- all delicious

If you are ever fortunate enough to find yourself in Pienza L'Osterria Baccus is well worth a visit with a variety of ethnic Tuscan dishes on offer all presented in a distinctly individual style. The cheerful manner of the proprietor and his delight in engaging in humorous banter adds real atmosphere to the occasion. The ribollita soup comes particularly recommended

We have much admired this simple restaurant in the past, but during our last visit the food overall fell somewhat flat compared to previous visits. First, our waitress insisted that their cheese and honey plate with truffles was only enough for 2 people (we were a family of 5), and although I had it before and recall it being plenty... More

We were only Pienza for 2 nights and ate here on the first night. Had a truly splendid meal with good food and wine. Service was excellent. In fact it was so good, we went back the next night. Very welcoming and helpful staff.

We stopped for a lunch because all of the other places had very similar menus and we were in the mood for something other than just very traditional Tuscan food. We were intrigued by the primo (pasta course) with tartufo and ragu bianco, so we ordered two plates for each of us and were not disappointed. It was a hearty... More

Although there were nothing inside and the staff didn't speak English we try this Osteria. Friendly service in which they charge 2 €/people for cover charge. We order "fonduta" and "agnello", the fonduta was tasteless and small, the agnello was a quality meat but the portion they served us had too much bone.

This place was one of our favorite lunches in Italy. My wife had a plate of 4 different pecorino cheeses, served in the local custom with honey, pear sauce and onion marmalade as toppings. She is a cheese lover, so this was great for her. I had the Pici Cinghiale (local pasta in a wild boar sauce), which was very... More

We stopped at the restaurant during our first visit to Pienza and were as happy with the food as we were with the town. We tried two versions of the Siena style Pici pasta with mushrooms and Pecorino cheese, sausage and a dessert of Tiramisu, all good. The service was very friendly and although quite busy the food came quickly. Portion... More

We stumbled on this sidewalk cafe during the mid afternoon doldrums in Pienza. It has a well-shaded terrace and offered a cool respite from the midday sun. The food was basic and good and the atmosphere was perfect.

We wandered in early (7:30pm) and were seated right away by the kind and friendly proprietress. Graciously put up with our poor Italian (she spoke English very well but we were practicing our Italian). Prompt service, good food. Restaurant full by 8:15pm We had several different pici (local pasta) dishes, Steak with balsamic sauce, and a lovely homemade tiramisu. Great... More
