Good food and friendly people

We stopped at the restaurant during our first visit to Pienza and were as happy with the food as we were with the town. We tried two versions of the Siena style Pici pasta with mushrooms and Pecorino cheese, sausage and a dessert of Tiramisu, all good. The service was very friendly and although... read more

Although there were nothing inside and the staff didn't speak English we try this Osteria. Friendly service in which they charge 2 €/people for cover charge. We order "fonduta" and "agnello", the fonduta was tasteless and small, the agnello was a quality meat but the portion they served us had too much bone.

This place was one of our favorite lunches in Italy. My wife had a plate of 4 different pecorino cheeses, served in the local custom with honey, pear sauce and onion marmalade as toppings. She is a cheese lover, so this was great for her. I had the Pici Cinghiale (local pasta in a wild boar sauce), which was very... More

We stumbled on this sidewalk cafe during the mid afternoon doldrums in Pienza. It has a well-shaded terrace and offered a cool respite from the midday sun. The food was basic and good and the atmosphere was perfect.

We wandered in early (7:30pm) and were seated right away by the kind and friendly proprietress. Graciously put up with our poor Italian (she spoke English very well but we were practicing our Italian). Prompt service, good food. Restaurant full by 8:15pm We had several different pici (local pasta) dishes, Steak with balsamic sauce, and a lovely homemade tiramisu. Great... More

Stopped by and although we had no reservation, they made room for our group of four. Food was very good, reasonably priced and good wine. The charm of the place itself is worth eating there.

The restaurant of our choice was full so we ended up going to Baccus - a happy change of plan, as it turned out. This is a modest, unpretentious osteria with authentic rustic cooking and a warm welcome. To start with, we had crostini - more like traditional slabs of country toast, with very flavoursome toppings. For mains, we both... More

My husband and I had lunch here during the New Year holiday period when Pienza was crowded. Fortunately, we decided to eat early because the Osteria was already crowded and we managed to get the last table. On a cold, wet day, the warm atmosphere and good home style Tuscan food was just what we needed. Service was excellent even... More

On the recommendation of our host in Gaiole in Chianti we went for lunch on a Tuesday. So good we went back two days later. The picci with porcini was fresh and fantastic. The ribolitta was also very good. Have what is the daily special and you can't go wrong.

Lovely atmosphere and good service. Home cooking. The home hade pasta and Ragu were lovely. We tried a mixed bean and local sausage dish which was a pleasant surprise in a holiday week with too much pasta! Would go back. Attentive and pleasant staff.
