Stopped for an early evening drink here and was so impressed with the hospitality. My husband had the Principessi beer, which had a lovely flavour, and I wanted to try a local white wine. The owner helpfully explained the characteristics of each and the one I chose was delicious and perfectly chilled.

We stopped for a snack and a glass of wine and had a fabulous array of cheeses with a sauce for each cheese. The cheeses ranged from soft to hard and young to old. Absolutely delicious as was the wine. The place is simple but picturesque as we sat in a quaint cobblestone street. Very nice service with a smile.

Such a lovely little bar (they call it a bar) and overwhelming hospitality! That alone was worth the visit. We went there for a quick lunch and got our delicious bruschettas. My wife happened to have a mouth ulcer and preferred to have salad (which they don't have on the menu). No problem! After learning about our little difficulty, our... More

Came here on a day trip and read about the taverna here on Tripadvisor. Can only second all ther other reviews here, the place serves up the most amazing cheese bruschettas and other nibbles. Did not eat anywhere else in Pienza but can hardly imagine any better place for a nice, simple and tasty lunch. Staff was also very nice... More

It is really refreshing when you find owners of a small restaurant who seem genuinely interested in welcoming you and helping you find exactly what you'd like to eat! That's what happens here. For a light lunch or mid-afternoon snack, this place can't be beat. Opt for the melted Peccorino cheese and prosciutto on large pieces of toasted bread. With... More

We found this wine bar three years ago entirely by accident and enjoyed a delightful, simple lunch there. In September 2013 we returned to Pienza and worked out where it is, in a little street parallel to the main pedestrianized area. This time we had lunch on two occasions, enjoying very pleasant wine and a selection of cheeses, all explained... More

This is really a very small "cafe" that serves incredibly fresh food! The couple serving and preparing the food are very friendly and accommodating. The cheese and the meat cuts are really nice and the portions are generous for what you pay. The winelist is small but of good quality and the beer (from Lazio) is very good, - micro-brewed.... More

Hands down our favorite restaurant of a 2 week vacation. We ate some great meals at very upscale restaurants during our stay, but this turned out to be a perfect lunch in Pienza. It’s a very small place – maybe a table or two inside the wine bar and then a handful of tables on a quiet Pienza side street.... More

We had an excellent lunch in La Taverna di Re Artu, eating two very good bruchettas and a table of pecorino cheese, paired with very good red wine
