The owners came out to welcome and serve us - short of staff since it's August and there were no fans. However they shrugged off our team coming back later with some extra fans from our own house!
They even allowed us to have a peek at their kitchens and see how they cook the Steak (on coals, of course!)...

Small, local owned and patroned - spectacular food, especially the steak. They are closed in August -
Stay at Montegufoni, just a few kilometres away, and be sure to dine at Il Focolare. Order the steak - it's what they are famous for and deservedly so.
Il Focolare was delightful and delicious! We went for the famous Florentine beefsteak and it did not disappoint! Grilled perfectly and individually hand carved tableside. Entire meal was excellent! Highly recommend IL Focolare!
You want to try Tuscan steaks? Come to Il Focolare; the steaks are about 2-3 inches thick - salty on the outside and juicy and rare on the inside. Best I've eaten - EVER!

We usually do not eat at the same place twice when we are on vacation in a place for a week. But we tried Il Focolare for lunch on our first day of a week in Montagnana and ended up eating there for 3 more dinners because it was a delightful place. The restaurant, very warm and cozy with crisp...

You can find bistecca alla fiorentina in almost each and every restaurant in the province, but this one beats them all and with a fair margin. The quality of the meat (personally chosen by the old owner each time) is superb, always cooked to perfection (do not ask for anything but rare meat, or you simply won't have bistecca alla...

Nice place, one of the more expensive in the area, but good value, considering the food. Their bistecco fiorentina must be one of the best within miles, and the Chef di grillio is worth a visit alone :-) Only negative to say is that the waiter forgot to bring us the most important ingrediense of the Fiorentina; the wine.
