No trip to the lovely town of Salo is complete without a visit to this landmark tea-house, if only to view its cases of tantalizing confections. Some can be quite whimsical, such as a set of Simpsons characters in marzipan so well-crafted we resisted eating them for days. The elegant, old world trappings make Vassalli a delightful place to take... More

As a change from a drink or bar snack, we had tea and cakes here - very English. It is worth visiting just for the beautiful cake and pastry displays. It was so hard to choose so the selection of small cakes was the way forward.

Seen the recommendations and it was on the top of my list and I was not dissapointed. It does take you back in time. With samples on the counters, so my hubby dissappeared for some time. We found our outdoor seat on the small plaza a few streets back from the lake and it was not long before a well... More

Title says it all. Yup the brioche is cooked on the premises, and if you re lucky are still warm. The padinis are also superb, the bread very fresh and good quantities of ingredients. Sit on the lakeside and enjoy-superb coffees and very helpful and friendly staff.Chocolate torte and apple strudel also excellent. The milk shakes and ice creams also recommended

When entering the Pasticceria Vassalli, it is entering an old-fashioned Café with small round tables and always fresh tableclothes on it, a long display of all the pasticci, cakes, pralines and what not, and Signora Vassalli standing on a small pedestal behind the till. You can sit there all day drinking from the good selection of teas and coffees,or wine... More

Quite simply a gem. Pasticceria Vassalli is a an absolute treat for the senses. Gorgeous decor, and a visually stunning display of cakes and pastries. Memories of a bygone age kept fresh and alive. Very tasty food, both savoury and sweet. For an morning or afternoon break in Salo you won't get better than this.
