Rarely is there a culinary experience such as this! From the moment we arrived we were treated as honored guests in the home of our hosts. After a tour of their Wine cellar with ancient tunnel and a trip through the gorgeous kitchen, we enjoyed a culinary experience like no other. Mario and Livia were present throughout our many exemplary... More

With all due respect to those who found this restaurant disappointing---my wife and I had dinner with two friends and we shared many dishes. Each was perfectly balanced in flavor and quite exceptional. The visit to the cellar and a chance to chat with the owners made it particularly fun, but we came for the food and left with wonderful... Simply a fabulous culinary experience in an extraordinary contour! Gracious family owned and run restaurant in a small and quiet village surrounded by the suggestive sceneries of the Amalfi coast. The Iaccarino family makes the 'house honours' to every and each of their lucky guests in an extraordinary, effortless but extremely attentive manner. Seasonal local ingredients produced by their own... More

We stayed at Don Alfonso 1890 for 3 nights in September 2014. This was our first visit, and we ate twice in the justly famous restaurant; once on the degustation menu, once on the traditional menu. Each was accompanied by local wines recommended by sommelier, Mauricio; at around 50 euro a bottle the wines were both interesting and good value.... More

As a 2 star Michelin restaurant our expectations were raised. The history of the hotel and restaurant, the elegant dinning room, pointed to an enjoyable evening. Service throughout was polished if a little showy,- a pair of tongs comes out and goes for your napkin on your lap to change it for the pudding courses. Somewhat disconcerting to see a... More

It takes a fairly long taxi drive from Sorrento to get to the restaurant, but we were eager to pay for it in anticipation of a memorable meal. We were influenced, of course, by the restaurant's two Michelin stars and the many favorable comments that we had read. So, yes, our expectations were very high and our relative disappointment may... We did not dine at Don Alfonso but did take a cooking class offered by the restaurant. My husband and I took a cooking class in southern France and this offered a different but just as fun and educational experience. The wonderferful food and wine with every course didn't hurt! They grow all of their own produce and make most... More

If your into your food and dining out in special places, this should be an addition to your list of food destinations to visit. Its up there with some of the best meals I have eaten, we went for the tasting menu which although expensive is a must try and it covers the whole spectrum of modern and traditional cooking... More

Eating in Don Alfonso is much more than an amazing meal. The service is more than you'd ever expect. You meet the entire family that runs this exquisite place and they are friendly and unpretentious. The food is amongst the best I've ever had. At the end of the meal it's a must to visit the cellar!

The food and the staff here cannot be faulted. Highly attentive and particularly beautiful food to look at and taste.
