Wish we had checked the reviews before choosing this restaurant for our last meal in Normandy. Terrible terrible service; the waitress was rude and unpleasant so much so that we thought we must have done something wrong. We went here on the 1st night we stayed in Port-en Bessin as the one recommended by the hotel was closed that night. I had read other reviews but as nearly everything was closed we didn't have much choice. We had the Marmite du Pecheur which was good and hot that others recommended. I have given it a 4 star... This goes back to March 2012. While visiting, our hotel recommended a different restaurant which clearly catered to the tourist side of things, so we wandered around on our own and decided to try La Petite Chaloupe. We agree with many comments regarding the slightly less than enthusiastic welcome, but the food was lovely, well prepared and nicely presented. The... More

We found this little spot while looking for a place to eat when all the restaurants in the main part of town were closed. We were either too early or to late as is was about 7 pm. This is located in a tiny alley or street a block from the main part of town. We spoke no French and... More

We didn't realise that everywhere else stopped serving by 9pm and so after searching found this little place. The soup was nice. The steak not so good and the creme caramel ok. Beer and wine ok and all reasonanly priced. We met the famed owner and she seemed fine once we spoke to her normally and offered a smile. She... More

Not a hint of warmth or pleasure in providing us our meal which when added to tasteless food left us feeling cheated. Having scanned Trip Advisor before leaving I knew the best restaurant in town had a blue facade but Sadly I chose the wrong one, be careful that you don't make the same mistake.

Should of known by the empty tables that it was one to avoid. Our choice from trip advisor was closed and we were Hungry so we gave it a go, it was a bad decision! The miserable face on the waitress said it all, we didn't expect gourmet dining so we ordered omelettes - thinking they can't muck these up... More
