We returned to the Monteverde area in January and were sad to see that Carambola is no longer. Susana, where did you and your fabulous parents go? We miss you and your delicious veggie wraps! There is a pizzeria in its place...haven't tried it, so can't comment.

I've been here twice within the past two years and it is by far the best place in Costa Rica! The owner cooks from her kitchen in her own house giving the restaurant an awesome feeling. Not only is the vibe very cozy and artsy, the food is excellent. I highly recommend the Thai Pita!!

Nothing prepares one for the presentation and taste of the food or the charm, class, and laid-back vibe of this cafe/restaurant. Everything on the plate is top quality, completely fresh, delicious, and artistically placed. It took me a long time to decide among the options - I was able to narrow down to the Pita Thai or Pita a la... More

A very nice little café run by a young woman from San José who speaks excellent English. It's a few steps away from the main triangle of shops in Santa Elena but easy to walk there (walk downhill from the Compro supermarket and then uphill to your right). Given all the previous Tripadvisor reviews, I thought I'd have to fight... More

We were staying up the steet at Cabinas Vista Al Golfo took a walk to town to shop, get some more wine and Guaro and find a place to eat. We smelled wonderful armoas from La Carambola, and walked in, we came back after shopping, shared the salad and a pita, had to share another. Ice cream for desert!! A... More

Went to Carambola with my mum and had the chilcken Thai pitta and the Indian pitta. Both nice but the Indian pitta was HOT! Lots and lots of chilli, I had to ask for yougurt on the side! Very friendly staff and the food is all freshly prepared and seems very healthy. The pitta breads themselves are amazing! Quite cheap... More

We absolutely loved this place! We were in Monteverde for 3 nights and once we discovered La Carambola we dined here several times (f.y.i don't go to the restaurant with the tree in the middle of it, that place is awful! Come here instead!). Their pitas are awesome as well as their natural fruit shakes. All of their food is... More

La Carambola Cafe was recommended by our hosts at Monteverde Village Lodge. The atmosphere is warm and caring; the food was excellent. Susana was a great host; the patio provided a great view of the setting sun.
