This restaurant was right across the street from the hotel we were staying in and we wanted to get away from the hotel food and try something different. The place is open air and nicely decorated and has a garden you can view on the backside. We weren't sure what to expect since we were the only customers but thought... More

We ate here during our visit to Monte Verde, and it was one of the best meals we had during our trip to Costa Rica. It's just one woman cooking in the back, making everything from scratch. The white beans, the calamari, the plantain, and especially the inventive cocktails were all excellent. I recommend the kiwi caipirinha - big chunks... More

Chimera is a small restaurant (9 tables or so) with an interesting tapa menu. The food was great, but the cocktails were even better! The servers were a little inattentive, but the food was worth it!

My boyfriend and I just spent 5 days in Monteverde and ate here for lunch and dinner. It was conveniently across the road from our hotel. Simply wonderful, generous tapas. One of the best restaurants we ate at in Costa Rica. While accommodating to tourists, it was not touristy.

My partner and I spent 10 days traveling around Costa Rica, and this place was hands-down the best restaurant we went to! The menu is comprised of so many tasty little tapas. I forget their actual names, but we ordered the chicken tortilla soup, white beans and pork, hearts of palm beignets, and shrimp sambal. All were amazing, truly delicious!... More

The meal was very good. The service was excellent. There's much better food to be had in the area for less than half the price, though.

Chimera was in walking distance if our hotel, so we ate here several times. We enjoyed each meal. Particularly liked the tortilla soup, heart of palm salad, and the sea bass. The ceviche was just okay. The coconut mojitos were very good. The service was also very friendly and good.

Over priced and greasy. Check your bill and your change! Both were wrong in my case...might have been an honest mistake but two mistakes in the space of 10 minutes seems unusual. They also added 10% service as well as 23% tax which, upon reading other reviews online is completely incorrect. Very disappointed. Avoid at ALL COSTS.

We like Tapas a lot so the promise of ‘Italian’ Tapas in the rainforest was intriguing – we had to try it. Oh dear, our first meal in Costa Rica was a huge disappointment; food was dull and very expensive – over $60 for 5 ‘Tapas’, a couple of desserts and a couple of sodas. We ate out everyday during... Visited this tapas bar as it was close to our hotel, what a great find. Anyone familiar with Spanish tapas will appreciate the inventive Tico twists on dishes. Definitely one of the best meals we've eaten in Costa Rica. The staff were very friendly without being too pushy and delivered excellent service.
