I ate here twice during my time in unawatuna and agree with the previous excellent reviews on here. It's authentic local food at a price which seems local compared to all the other overpriced western fare around the beach. The owners are lovely and welcoming. I recommend the Sri Lankan breakfast, it was yummy and I couldn't finish it all!

Don't let the name & decor fool you. Its got the most unassuming entrance, with a lazy dog sleeping on the stair case, and a bunch of happy kids running around! A light dinner of pumpkin soup & passion fruit salad was amongst the most memorable. Who would've thought that a tiny place like this would have free wifi as... More

Split one ample sized lunch entree between two of us. Delicious local food at 'almost' local pricing even though it's right off the beach. Compared to elsewhere in SL, it's still expensive. Sautéed okre was excellent. Dahl was one of the better ones we had in SL.

I can only agree with the other excellent reviews here. This place is fab. It was a house which was sadly damaged by the Tsunami, so it has reinvented itself as a restaurant! The food is made from scratch so does take a while (ours took an hour even though there were only 4 other people there), so just make... More

We were adviced by some local people to try the the rice&curry here. We were not disappointed! One of the best we had so far! Also for a good price. The place doesn't look that fancy, but it's worth every rupee :) Tomorrow we are going to follow the chef's cooking class, very excited!

Worth the wait!!!! Of course made from scratch, fresh food and the Roti was incredible. We have heard many times about roti and this was our first experience with roti!! So much flavor! Great vibes... The owner herself wears a smile for a kilometer and a great chef

We had 3 nights in Unawatuna and ate at Happy Spice all 3 nights. It was delicious! Great food, big servings, it took about an hour to come, but you could hear her grinding spices and preparing the food fresh. It doesn't look much, but has a friendly family atmosphere! Yum!!

This small family run resturant has some of the best food we have eaten during our 3 week stay in Sri Lanka. All the food is made fresh while you wait, not pre prepared like others. The price is also very cheap compared to food in the hotels. The staff are very friendly. Don't be put off by the first... More

Don't let the concrete breeze block and corrugated iron walls put you off. The food here is excellent! All cooked to order and one of the best curries I've ever tasted. You do have to wait but much better to know the food has been cooked up fresh and full of flavour. Having paid a lot more elsewhere in Unawatuna... More

We visited this restaurant one evening in January 2014 after reading the great reviews on TripAdvisor. We didn't mind the setting as we had already read that it would be in an unfinished property. When we got there we were shown to a table and given the menu quite grufflyThere didn't seem to be the friendly family style atmosphere others... More
