An unexpected find in a gold mining rush. Everything was exceptional and unique. Loved the idea of barrel cooking, enjoyed the different flavours it brought to all the dishes, and the food wine matching experience. If we were to comment on anything it would be that we were the only couple in the restaurant do it lacked the buzz.

We had a small meal in Arrowtown hoping to make the 3pm kitchen closing time at the Wild Earth Restaurant only to arrive at 2.24 pm to see a sign outside saying closing at 2.30pm. Luckily we still had time to try a number of the tapas barrel inspired foods to only be told that sorry the kitchen was closed.... More

Even if you are staying at Queenstown, this restaurant is worth a visit.... The combination of wine barrelled cooked food coupled with superb pinot noir really took me by surprise. Friendly down to earth service and great cozy atmosphere.

Hi Avrilrose, I'm so glad that you made your way to us from Queenstown and liked everything! Our Pinot Noir's are showing really well right now as it's definitely coming into that sitting by the fire with a glass of Pinot kind of weather! It's great you got the try them, we're very proud. Thank you for taking the time... More

Review of Wild Earth - absolutely rubbish, waste of money and petrol and time! Platter for 2 - $60 - 4 over cooked mussels, 2 cubes of utterly tasteless salmon on a bed of limp pickled cabbage, 2 dry Cajun chicken nibbles on congealed coleslaw and sawdust dry cornbread, edible potato salad (about the best thing on the platter), 2... Driving back from Mount Cook, we headed to Cromwell towards Queenstown airport to catch a connecting Jetstar flight to Auckland. On the drive back, we stopped at the Goldfield Mines - no doubt a tourist attraction but right next to it was the charming Wild Earth Outdoor Kitchen and Cellar Door, a lovely bistro and winery where we enjoyed some... Foggy day in Cromwell with visitors staying. Where to go for lunch ? We went to Wild Earth and it has the WOW factor. The setting just blew away the north islanders. then the food and the wine match was outstanding, the waitress knew what she was talking about and to make it just that much better the owner came... We were guilty of driving past for 2 years thinking it was a touristy cafe. What an AMAZING experience when we finally went! Wow! The food and wine matches were so impressive and everything smoked in their unique wine barrels. How about smoked Hare on a parsnip puree? Service was welcoming, informative and friendly. Setting is simply stunning. GO!

Good ambience. Presentation of wine and accompanying food dishes was novel as were the descriptions of the staff. A different and enjoyable experience for one or two couples to discuss and share their views. Good one!
