Called in for a birthday lunch on a cold spring afternoon The staff were very efficient, about as to close to perfect as you can get in New Zealand even though it was the waitresses first week she had been well trained We tried two 2009 Northburn pinot noire, which the expert at the table pointed out was such a... It is rare to get everything right - Northburn Station did. The Riesling was crisp & fresh, the food interesting and flavoursome, the service warm, welcoming and professional. On a mild spring afternoon this was the idyllic setting for a leisurely afternoon lunch. Set in a sheltered, sunny and picturesque spot, we all had a relaxing afternoon from our 2... More

We were told visiting this station was a MUST on the way from Cardrona..and it is. We walked in and were able to do a wine tasting straight away. The staff know their stuff...they have been here for many years perfecting their drop. We bought a bottle straight away and I will definately look at buying more online soon. We... More

We visited here on the weekend to try some wines and have lunch. The wines are beautiful and all organic. After trying the wines at the cellar door we sat down for lunch and had the Lamb (marino from the farm) and Pork Belly. I can say honestly these were both two of the best meals we have had in... My fiancee and I went to 'The Shed' recently for lunch. We started with the 'food and wine matching' at the cellar door. What a great idea! Their wines are all organic using bio-dynamic principles. We really enjoyed their Riesling 09 and Pinot Noir Reserve 09. The food matched perfectly with the different wines. Also we were pleased to have... More

Had a very lovely lunch to celebrate my mothers birthday at Northburn Station today. Really lovely service from all staff, highly professional and friendly. Food great, loved the platter with mix of seafood, rabbit and vegetables/chutneys. Great accommodation of my wheat intolerance too. Wonderful atmosphere in the restaurant, excellent history of surrounding area as well as local photography talent. Highly... More

Our experience at The Shed at Northburn Station was fantastic. Views from the Shed were spectacular. The food and wine matched tasting was excellent (and great value), and the merino main course was divine. Service was outstanding. Our waiter was a charming Frenchman who went the extra mile and even generously offered to take photos of us in the gorgeous... More

Northburn Station is about 40 minutes out of Queenstown but well worth the drive. Its a great spot in winter and I imagine even better in summer. The service is friendly and professional and the food fresh and full of local flavours. Highly recommended. They also have quite a selection of local foods to buy and take home as well... More

I had the pleasure of having lunch at this beautiful place with my boyfriend. On arrival we were warmly greeted by Paul the manager at Northburn Station as we walked through the door which was a lovely personal touch. We were then guided through a Wine and matched Food tasting by a lovely frenchman who held an excellent conversation with... More

The Shed at Northburn provides a truly New Zealand experience. Regional food at an atmostpheric restaurant/vinyard overlooking the mountains is hard to beat. Northburn is an hour from Queenstown but it is well worth making the trip by car. Everything on the menu is locally grown, including the lamb which is farmed on the property! We shared the farmhouse platter... More
