We made an unscheduled stop here ebb route to Queenstown and were happy we did. Even though the restaurant was shut, the very friendly lady at the counter let us trade some of their sustainably made, central Otago red wines. We quite liked their reserve label. If you are in the area, call ahead to see if they are open.... More

Despite the fact that the word restaurant is listed on all advertising for this place, when we arrived for a nice romantic lunch & wine, we waited about 15minutes before we were advised they no longer have a restaurant, and so we couldn't get any food or wine by the glass, only wine tasting. Needless to say, we were very... More

The setting is magical and the location is better, with the snow capped mountain peaks in the background. The winery is very good and staff very helpful.

We went to Northburn as a group of around 30. They had a lovely fire roaring and great atmosphere established. Although the wines themselves weren't the best we have tasted, the food was very well presented and cooked. It was dark so we didn't see outside, although we have been there at lunchtime a couple of years ago. It is... More

We made an unplanned stop here on our way from Wanaka to Queenstown and were very glad we did. A picturesque setting on a clear shining day. Staff were attentive and very knowledgeable. The lunch platter showcased some excellent local produce; too bad there wasn't more, it was all too delicious!

Recommended by our hosts in Queenstown this won't have been on our radar had it not been so well recommended. Having driven over the range to Wanaka and then onto Cromwell, Northburn is a little harder to find compared to many vineyards in the region but the seclusion and setting were both magical. A warm blue skied day saw us... More

My Husband and I were staying near Lake Wanaka for our honeymoon and we chose to go wine tasting while there. We decided to stay toward the Cromwell region for our first day of tastings. We drove down the 6 hitting as many wineries as we could and returned up the 8 back into Wanaka. On our way back up... More
