food was excellent, hot and freshly prepared. Had the venison haunch and it was to die for! tender and very tasty. Staff were very helpful when we asked to change tables due to noisy families as we wanted to enjoy conversation and a peaceful meal.

Great location, and superb food. Handy ferry to the other side too, although it seemed unclear if was free if we had eaten in the restaurant, it is but not all of the ferry operators know!

The Saracens Head in Symonds Yat is one of the busiest pubs I have ever seen. The management cater for this by having a multitude of staff on duty which results in very prompt friendly and efficient service. The food we ate at lunch time was excellent and very good value for money. We will definitely return on our next... More

Hidden away along a winding narrow road is this lovely inn by the river Wye. We popped here for dinner as we are staying in the area & enjoyed great food which was also interesting & exciting! Lots of choice with light bites ( I prefer to sometimes have a starter & light bite!) & mains with a choice if... More

I've been to the Saracen's Head a few times over the years (even stayed there once) and it's never failed to impress. The food quality and choice are now excellent and meal sizes generous. Service is very good. At the time of this visit there were six ales on draught, five of them local (the other was Doom Bar from... More

We walked from Monmouth to Symonds Yat and stopped for lunch here. We have had coffee here before and discovered the board games cupboard, so thought we would stay for lunch too! It was busy and buzzy, but the staff were polite and helpful and our delicious toasted sandwiches came really promptly. We did not feel rushed and enjoyed the... More

Enjoyed a lovely meal at this cosy pub on a cold Sunday evening. The food was delicious and the staff were super friendly. Having not booked a taxi to get back to where we were staying the friendly chap behind the bar offered to take us across the river by boat at the end of the evening and we walked.... More

Stayed in the forest of dean for the weekend and found this lovely pub on one of our walks. Great tasting food and a good selection of drinks, staff were pleasant and service was great despite the place being busy, would definitely go back!

This was a very high calibre dining experience that I expect all foodies would appreciate. A warm (a centrepiece coal effect gas fire creates an almost medieval-type feel!) and welcoming 'proper' pub with a cosy, scrub-top table style dining room. Our starters were superb. A currant, savoury bagel with smoked salmon and scrambled egg plus a confit of duck and... More

It was a cold and frosty Sunday morning ideal for a good walk along the Wye. The Saracens Head Inn is located in Symonds Yat East, near the bottom of the steep climb from Symonds Yat Rock, and right where the traditional rope ferry takes foot passengers across the rive Wye to the west bank. After a walk and before... More
