Whilst visiting friends in the area, we decided to return to the Saracens Head after our previous visit a few years ago, which had met all expectations. Although, we had not booked, after a short wait and a glass of excellent Rioja, our party of four, were shown to a nicely laid clean table in the restaurant. (It is best... More

This slight detour was a recommendation from a friend, and wow, it was worth it. We arrived when food was limited to sandwiches and baguettes. these were excellent, if a bit on the pricey side - £6 for a ham salad sandwich. However, it is the location, history and breath-taking views of the Wye Valley that will bring me back,... More

Set right by the river the Saracen's Head Inn could like many places serve below average food and drink and trade on it's location alone. Fortunately it chooses to enhance it's location by providing superb fare instead. Was good to find a pub serving a selection of local ales which were served just right. Also, the burger was clearly homemade... More

We had ordered 2 beef pies but the chef had miscalculated how many we had so had to have an alternative which was OK but not brilliant. Likewise my crayfish main was only a starter portion. The service was also a bit mixed. To start with very good but then went off as the evening went on. A real shame as the... More

We ate here for a birthday meal in the restaurant and came back for a bar meal the next night. Both were lovely. It can get very busy but they cope well with really friendly staff and great customer care. It was good value with an imaginative menu. I couldn't have asked for more and will make sure we stay... Fantastic place for dinner after a day on the river. The setting is lovely and the staff are very friendly and professional. The food prices are quite good and the presentation is 100%. Food tasted good but arguably just misses out of the 'amazing' category. Would definitely return though as menu is excellent and difficult to choose from!!

We only stopped here for sandwiches- they were ok, fresh but the fillings were not particularly inspiring- more like something you'd make at home and pack up for a picnic,

Quite a busy restaurant as the area can be rather tourist-y, particularly in the summer though. It's a 'pleasant' busy though. Prices are standard; there are sandwiches that range from £5.95 - £7.00 (that would be a large baguette). I had a cheese and pickle baguette, served with crisps and salad. The food my other party members had looked equally... More

We did enjoy our lunch sitting outside in the sunshine. The pub was very busy but coping well with the numbers and our good was lovely. Excellent range of real ale and ciders to choose from.
