I could have rated this better, because the place is nice and the food is pretty good. But the owner, or attendant, is not very pleasant and makes no effort to be cordial. A bit of simpathy could be added to the menu. We did have a nice meal afterall, but treatment is everything in my opinion.

We were a bit taken back when ordering our food here. Firstly my husband wanted a wine from Montepulciano and the waiter seemed affronted saying we should have one from Cortona as it was more local and as good as the one we wanted. My husband likes to choose his own wine but felt he had to comply so he... More

We visited on the evening of 8th April when the lovely town of Anghiari was cold and almost deserted and found this warm and friendly 'oasis'. The staff were welcoming spoke good English, and German, and the food was very tasty with generous portions and sensibly priced. A meal for 3, 2 courses each with wine cost €79.

Yesterday, we had a pleasant lunch with the family. The appetizers and bread were excellent. The main courses were good but I had ordered the duck and was upset to receive pork loin. The server was cordial yet stiff with our table but when another party arrived after us, they were treated with great ceremony and served before us. Prices... More

Old-world with exquisite charm, decadent food and extensive wine list. Owner's, Chef Silvia and Gianni will instantly make you feel welcomed and special. If you have the time, I recommend you ask to take a cooking class with Silva - a gastro experience you won't soon forget!

There were four of us recently stayed in Anghiari, Tuscany for week and we truly enjoyed this restaurant, having returned a second time as well. The menu is innovative, taking advantage of seasonal bounty, and superbly prepared by Chef Sylvia. Gianni has a vast wine cellar and complements the meal with his knowledgeable suggestions. This couple welcomes its diners warmly... More

We planned to eat at Da Alighiero before we ever left the States so we were a positive self fulfilling prophecy waiting to happen. And it WAS absolutely wonderful! Simple enough ambience. Superb food. For the quality of cuisine, very reasonably priced. The two owners are there making it happen. Gianni in the front of the house; Chef Sylvia in... More

I dined here three times during a week stay. It remains my favorite restaurant experience in 5 weeks in Italy. The the porcini pasta dishes, including a stuffed gnocchi, are still the best I've had. The owners are wonderful and make your visit a personal experience. This should be a destination restaurant. We also took a half day cooking class... More

We visited Anghiari on a couple of occasions during a recent stay in Tuscany and eat at Da Alighiero on one of those visits. I had looked at Trip Advisor for inspiration on where to eat prior to our visits and was interested by comments by another visitor who compared Da Alighiero with the restaurant currently rated number 1 in...
