Uncommon, rural cooking and opens early!

Although there are plenty of places to eat in Ostuni Centro Storico very few are open before 7.30 and we stumbled across Osteria Monacelle with 2 cross, hungry British children who were not accustomed to Italian hours. Happily they were open, realised our predicament and had 2 plates of delicious... read more

Not one, not two, but three talented ladies in Monacelle's small kitchen turn out one local delicacy after another, each served with understated pride and a sincere desire to please the visiting clientelle. Their collaboration can be viewed through the glass window of the small dining area, which raised an air of expectation that never failed to please. A half-dozen... More

We spent the New Year's Eve in this restaurant and everything was super cosy. The little room we where in is the one where you can see the chefs cooking (the kitchen is visible through a glass) and I recommend it. The food was excellent and the service was good - the price was good as well. The thing I... More

We just happened upon this wee osteiria while out looking for a place to eat and so glad we did. As we are often the first to take dinner, our dinner hour being earlier than Italians, we were the only guests for a good while. We had extraordinary service. When we discovered that we had forgottento feed the parking meter... More

A friend and I were wandering in the lovely city of Ostuni in Puglia. We stumbled across this restaurant totally by chance. It would be easy to miss since it's in a very small lane. The quaint lane attracted us in the first place. We were hungry so we decided to walk in. It was lunch time so there no... More

We ate antipasti for 2 and 1 primi piatti and 1 secondo piatti, 1 bottle of red housewine and sparkling water. The food and service was very good. You can enjoy watching the cooking via the window. The price we payed was about € 62.

Situated just off one of the main pedestrian routes up through Ostuni, this is a small place which we very much enjoyed - including watching Gina (the chef) through the large glass window to the tiny kitchen. You'll probably get more out of a visit if you speak Italian.

We were sent here by our hotel. The wait staff were friendly and helpful; the food was excellent. Loved the octopus, and the lamb with artichokes and rabbit stew were sensational. Hard to say anything negative except that they were very busy and there was a long wait between courses. But it was definitely worth waiting for!

We came on the recommendation of an Ostuni local and enjoyed some authentic and tasty Puglian food here. Very cosy inside, open kitchen with chef on view, well priced for central location, worth a visit

This family run restaurant centres around the excellent chef. We had a half litre of the family's own red wine and tap water. We enjoyed the authentic assorted antipasta and then, as always, could not resist the rabbit. Beautifully cooked and served with roasted potatoes. As we had eaten so much by then we resisted a pudding. Total cost an... More
