It was very busy with tourists this Pentecost weekend, but even when teeming with tourists, Monschau remains a nice, cosy, charming village. As we remembered restaurant Tomasa from some years ago, when we stayed in the parent hotel Horchem, we decided to play safe and have lunch there. After some struggle we succeeded to get an outside table (it was... More

My wife and I went for a meal at the restaurant on 22 May 2014. We were initially served by an delightful member of staff who then disappeared soon after serving the first course. A male member of staff then took over who lacked any customer service skills. The meal was average but half way through our meal at approx... More

Excellent and complete. For enjoying the Christmas market with all stalls and food we also had one night without dinner.

We sat by the window (which I recommend) so that we could watch the bustle of the Christmas market. That was probably the best part of the experience as the food was just "ok". We all had various schnitzel. The beer was good and the price wasn't bad (we tried the winter menu). The waitress barely spoke English but we... More

We only came into Monschau for a few hours, so didn't really plan anything while there. We chose this restaurant because of its outdoor seating with a nice view. Service was pretty slow and seemingly random (3 different servers), but the food was delicious. Good salad to start, nice wine with the meal, and lots of schnitzel! The schnitzel with... More

After driving for 1,5hrs from cologne to Monschau, we where looking forward to have a cosy dinner. The waitress was already irretatetd when we tried to choose our favorite table ( 2/3 of the restaurant was empty ) It was visible that she must had some redline already as her mouth had that purple color. The food was poor and... More

We visited this restaurant in this lovely town close to the Belgian border, the staff was very helpful and very nice to us. They spoke barely any English so we spoke German, you would hope for an English menu as many tourists visit from the US and the UK. We had Schniezels which are available in five different ways. Each... More

We visited Tomasa during a nice day out in Monschau. Only after we had drawn their attention staff realized we wanted to order something. After ordering it took quite long till we had our menu served. The waiter knocked over a botte of water I ordered, and the table was wet. He did not give a new one, nor did... More

I chose it coz of good location on the bank of the river with good view of town. Price is reasonable. Kitchen is very tasty though not so much to choose from. Service is nice.

I never had mustard soup before but this was an experience. There honey mustard soup is sweet with just a little kick of mustard. It is rich and creamy (probably heavy cream) . Wish I could go back there again.
