Very nice traditional German food

I have visited this restaurant twice now and it has on both occasions been great. The wine cellar is 700 years old and is a great place to dine, the staff are friendly and if your Deutsch is not so good they have menus in English but some dishes still need explaining.

I was traveling alone in Germany, which is apparently not as common as it is in the US. I was staying in Esslingen and had read the great reviews of this restaurant. I went VERY early in the evening (5:30PM) and it was almost empty. I did not have a reservation but clearly did not need one. When I told... More

Gemutlich! This is the epitome of Schwabian food with a 700 yr old building and wine cellar ambiance to boot. Reasonable prices. If you are in the area, you can't go wrong. If you feel like a breakfast option, go for the potatoes with 3 fried eggs and you'll love it(schwabian specialties page). No-I don't work there but was super... More

I ate here with a German colleague and had a great meal and some very good wine. The building is old and there are multiple rooms within the building, each with a slightly different set-up and theme. We ate in the basement wine cellar, which has lots of rock and was a very cool setting. We went with the recommended... More

I went with 4 friends to have dinner in this place. I was waiting 1 hour for my dish. My friends had already eaten her dishes when my salad came to the table. Will never come again.

Our group of 25 ladies had lunch at Weinkeller Einhorn as part of our monthly outing. The staff was courteous in accommodating our large group. Our orders were taken quickly and we were served very quickly as well. When the food arrived, the portions were generous and the presentation was lovely. The food was plated well and was delicious! As... More

We visited with friend's and family, we had a great time. The food and drink was great and the ambience is just what you'd want from an old German wine cellar. My next comment is nothing against the Weinkeller, just a word of warning make sure you leave time to find parking. You might have to park some distance away... More

If you find yourself in Esslingen be sure to get a reservation to eat in the wine cellar at the Weinkellar Einhorn. Great food in a historic building makes for a memorable evening. Try the maultaschen soup as a starter to get something very local and bring your appetite for a hearty German meal. Friendly service, great food and a... More

My husband and I were in Esslingen a few days ago and ate here twice. Both times we ate in the wine cellar (there are several upstairs rooms also). We tried to eat here on our first night but it was full (a local told us that once you have a table in a restaurant you have it for the... More
