A Mixed Bag

This restaurant was a little out of town so a car would be an advantage. We went for lunch and both had the Poulet. The servings were large with a rich vin jaune sauce. Our table was a little tight which perhaps reflected it also being a tavern. The service was good. There is parking in the back... read more

Liked this restaurant, which was quite large but felt cosy. It concentrates on local specialities and offers good value. Well-trained, pleasant waiting staff. La Finette aperitif and the onion soup were both of particularly good quality.

Sorry but we don't call this cooking. Don't try ti order a menu here, you simply can't eat it, too much and no quality. I can't understand why this place was so filled up with people. Our steak was 4 mm thick, and they ask how you want it prepared?! Saignant, yeah right... The wines were of poor quality too.... More

Virtually the only place open in the Arbois in the evening (besides one or two more expensive places), La Finette is generally a busy place. Last week I could not get in (had no reservation) It's a big restaurant, decorated in semi-log cabin style, a bit artificial, but still cosy. I had a local fine meats starter, which was pretty... We ate here while we were driving back to Switzerland and we wanted to try Fondue. It was good quality, nicely presented and very tasty. Fondue was complemented with Salad and portion of meat. Waiter/waitress were friendly and everything was presented nicely.

We really wanted a more relaxed meal on our last night in Arbois and this was just what the doctor ordered. Wish I had had the appetite to have a fondu!! Looked and smelled amazing. Nice, simple food at a good price. The waitress was lovely and really friendly. Best 'café gourmand' of our holiday.

We ate here one evening because we could not get into Les Caudalies which is almost next door and had been recommended. We went for the four course menu and overall it was good quality, nicely presented and very tasty. First, the onion soup, nice croutons and melted Comte cheese but I thought that the soup lacked that caramelised onion... More

We had the set menu, the food was good, however the portion size was huge, this meant you were almost full after the starter and still had another 3 courses to go.

Went with a group of 10 adults & 5 kids, nice big table in a secluded alcove. Fondu shared between 2 or 3 so we had 3 pots but none of us managed to finish despite our best efforts! A reasonable €16 menu, with the option of a cheese board for dessert! Cheesetastic!
