Very disappointed with our recent visit due to unfriendly service especially from the owner. We were a party of 14 locals who had been there several times before. Unfortunately this time we were not happy with the food and the landlord could not take criticism telling us not to return! Some of the food was good but the portion sizes... More

We stopped at the Star Inn after a very long walk and although they were fully booked they were happy to serve food in the garden. The roast beef was one of the best that I'd ever had with all the vegetables served in separate dishes for us to share with more available should we still be hungry. We were... More

Well most people wound now this pub for its CAMRA's real Ales, and a good place to eat. However, since the new young Chef has arrived the rumours on the grape vine have been flying! So we thought we give this new chef a try on what they call “Fish Night” (Photo of the Menu). My wife and I had... More

Best pub in Wales. Landlord , landlady and staff are friendly and efficient. A real pub . Lovely food and beer is well kept. We return for New Years eve which is another event worth going to.

My boyfriend and I ate here during a recent visit to the Brecon Beacons. It is a lovely traditional country pub that serves many real ales and good food. It was very busy and seems popular. The staff were very friendly also. We both had the steak and ale pie which was delicious and the desserts were also good too.... More

Excellent food served at the Star. Steaks are exceptional and the onion rings are massive. Been here as a family with a toddler and they are very helpful and are family friendly.

Loved this pub, which was a 40 minute canal side walk from Pencelli Castle campsite. For a pub seemingly in the middle of nowhere it was always busy with drinkers and diners. Tourists and locals. If you're an ale fan you'll love it. They have a super selection that changes daily 'when the barrels empty, that's it' as it was... More

My boyfriend and I visited on a Monday night for dinner, didn't expect it to be so busy but that just shows what a popular little place it is! Had to wait about half an hour for a table but it was worth the wait!! I had the steak and ale pie and it was huge! Even better the quality... More

My partner and myself had a lovely meal here and the staff made you feel very welcome and at home. The live music was also a nice addition and added to the atmosphere. Would definitely recommend a visit.
