My husband and I both enjoyed our brunch at the Powerhouse. I was particularly appreciative of being able to find gluten free french toast, which is nearly impossible! Mary has been running this cafe for some years now afte experience at Duvauchelle, Akaroa, Takamatua and Takaka. She knows well how to please her customers with tasty treats which range from cabinet delights to a scrummy menu. Licenced you can also enjoy a glass of wine or an ale if you prefer.

Pleasantly surprised when we went here. The food was excellent and good size serves. We had the heuvos rancheros and will be going back tomorrow for something else!

Hadnt been in Hanmer for over 3 years so was hoping the Powerhouse breakfast was as good as I remembered. we weren't disappointed - friendly service, great coffee, yummy breakfasts and good options for children. 6 year old loved the Kids Power Pack!

After reading so many pleasant reviews about this place I thought this would be the perfect place to have breakfast at on our last day in Hanmer. The menu seemed well thought out and everything on it sounded delicious so we couldn't wait to order. We ordered the "whipped potato cakes with poached eggs, hollandaise and spinach" ($18.50) and the... More

Extensive selection of both counter and cooked food, excellent breakfasts and outdoor seating under shade sails makes it a favourite stop in Hanmer.

We had a scrummy breakfast here 1st day of 2015. Great seating outside in the sun, quick service and friendly staff. Recommend the Warm lemon and oatmeal pancakes - delicious!

This place is great, friendly service, great food. If you like something a little different, try the rolled oat breakfast dish, I think it is called Highland Fling. OMG it is good, unusual, but very good. well done who ever dreamed up that recipe it is outstanding.
