Found this gem during a road trip through NZ. Eggs Benedict best I've ever had - pancakes and muesli also top notch. Take away Blackberry and Rhubarb shortcake was scrummy and can even forgive it leaking into rucksack later. If only breakfasts were always like this

Popped in for breakfast. Had the eggs florentine. Excellent. Some of the other options looked good and I heard people cooing about the porridge and absurdly generous French toast.

This place is made for perfect breakfast! I really like the interior. Small and light. There´s garden where you can sit as well. We had pancakes with fresh fruit and some warm chocomuesli biscuit? To be honest pancakes didn ´t impress me. Lovely waitress assured me that pancakes are made fresh every day. I even saw the chef making them,... More

We visited on the first day that we arrived in Hanmer Springs looking for a late lunch at 2.45pm like previous review was told kitchen was closed and only cabinet (cakes) were available, we gave it a miss. Feeling disappointed as we had seen good reviews about the food, we went back for brunch the following day, I had the... More

Went there at 2.45 pm. The sign at the door said open, the Lonely Planet guide book said they serve meals until 3 pm. At 2.45 pm the waitress informed my the kitchen is already closed [15 minutes ahead of time!] and I was offered only food from behind the counter. Unfortunately, behind there were hardly any gluten free dishes.

We went back more than once! Breakfast - fantastic; coffee and cake - terrific; service: friendly and helpful and it was good to meet the chef. Sensibly priced. Open from 7.30am to mid afternoon.

We had brunch two days in a row at Powerhouse cafe during our visit to Hanmer Springs in early Nov 2014. The restaurant has outdoor covered seating but we chose to sit inside as it was a bit chilly in the morning. It was cosy inside. Decor was industrial chic. As a family with young children we could tell it... More

We spent a week in Hanmer, a few of us early guys (group of 6) got up and got our morning coffee as they were one of the few places open at 7.30am. The flat whites and long blacks were of the same consistency each time, I tried the friads which were excellent. The brunch/lunch menu yielded mixed results in... More
