Nice and clean, but a "beef sandwich" with only a few thin, dry, scrapings of beef for 8 pounds was very disappointing. Served by someone who couldn't even manage a slight smile or hello: we regretted our choice here!

Went in for a coffee and were disappointed by poor quality coffees and dour service. Money must come too easily here

Good coffee and cheese scones served in friendly and pleasant way. All in the heart of this small bustling village. There is a choice of cafés but An Cala is clean and just short of the ferry terminal so a good place to stop an watch the world go by.

We called in as a group of two families, seven of us in all. The service was poor, almost like they wished we had gone elsewhere. Eventually our orders of tea and scones arrived. There was just enough tea in the pot for one small cup each for two people. No jug of hot water to top the pot up.... More

Once again a nice central place in Mallaig to have a snack lunch. Toasted sandwiches and a pot of tea. Busy, but room to move and good service. My wife, who is particular about these things, was disappointed that there was no ladies only loo, though there was a men only loo.

Popped in for coffee & cake in the afternoon. We had coffee & scones with jam & cream for a very reasonable price. Service was fine & there is the added bonus of free wi-fi. Good value for money & wish I'd gone here for lunch rather than where we did go elsewhere in Mallaig.

My wife and I have visited An Cala several times since it was opened and always enjoyed their food and service. The owners come across as dedicated and hard working and always have made time to answer our "touristy" questions. We will be in Mallaig next week and are looking forward to some food and a chat with the friendly... More

We visited on what has been thankfully a rare wet day in July 2014. The coffee and traybakes we had were fine, and for us the service was adequate if a bit impersonal. For others however - oh dear... One group (some young kayakers in their early 20s) were told 'you have to leave. The train gets in soon and... More

Visited on Sat 21st June. Service was terrible. We were completely ignored. I eventually visited the counter to be 'waived away' and told to sit down and wait my turn. I explained we had a train to catch in 45 mins and was completely dismissed. The man attending tables was extremely rude. Even the other customers said so. My disabled... More
