We both had a great meal here, had the scallops followed by Salmon and it was all very fresh and cooked to order. The staff were lovely and there was plenty to choose from on the menu. Highly recommended when in Mallaig!

Chlachain came highly recommended so we had high hopes. I am not a fan of the system at many restaurants and pubs in Scotaland that requires you to order food at the table and drinks at the bar so that is a point of bias for me here as well. The food was quite good if a bit pricey. We... More

We wanted some fresh, local seafood and were not disappointed. The fish & chips is probably the best I've ever had (and I've had a few). The "hand-dived" scallops (with chorizo and tomatoes) and the fish soup (which had a fancy local name which I cannot recall) were both fantastic. Service was excellent, staff was friendly and we were very... More

I am so grateful that the man on the boat we had just been on recommended this place. The food was to die for and the staff were incredibly charming and, at the end of it all, the bill was incredibly small. I have never, ever, tasted better cullen skink even mine - and I am a good cook -... More

Fresh fish fresh cooked, brilliant. Read the review about the barmaid below, the guy must have a personality disorder as she's brilliant. Had us In stitches from start to finish. Made our holiday. Will definitely return.

Mallaig, for sure, is a one horse town. It's way out west and 100 miles from nowhere. The town itself is neither picturesque nor does it try to be. That said, it's possessed with a certain simple and utilitarian charm, and it's fantastically positioned for what many call "Europe's last wilderness." For me one of its most compelling attractions is... More

We arrived after alighting from the Jacobite Railway experience, just brilliant. We noticed a leaflet on the train which stated that there was a 10% discount at the Chlachain Inn Restaurant. We took the voucher and marched over with the kids and ordered our food, my wife only noticed that she hadn't presented the voucher after ordering the food, no... More

The restaurant is simply furnished but clean and friendly. The service was good and the food quality excellent. The menu is limited with sea food dominant.
