We visited this pub/restaurant just to get out of the hail/sleet which was coming down heavily at the time. What a pleasant surprise to find such a lovely place where we were greeted so warmly. My soup was delicious and my husband had the cheese and bacon baguette which he said was excellent. There was a lovely fire with a... More

LOVED the fish and chips. Fantastic. I even ate the peas. Friendly staff; if a bit distant. I do recommend as the food was excellent.

This place is a hidden gem!! The drive out to Mallaig from Fort William is stunningly beautiful, and while the restaurant looks like nothing from the outside, the food was simply amazing. The cullen skink (fish/seafood soup) was awesome (still thinking about it) and my son had the fresh haddock (fish and chips)- the fish was also incredibly fresh and... More

Had some very tasty fish and chips here on a cold and rainy February afternoon. Ducked my head in to see what it was like and there was a wood-burning stove with a sofa in front of it, I thought this seems perfect and spent a nice couple of hours reading in the warmth of the fire. The staff were... More

We had lunch here on a winter's day. The menu was good, given the time of year and the children's menu was just as good. I had the cullen skink which was lovely and my husband plumped for the isle of mull Cheddar baguette; loads of cheese and a nice fresh baguette. My daughter chose haddock and chips, it was... More

We came here for a short break via .he train from Glasgow to Mallaig. The train journey is sublime and defies description really, with one gorgeous and awe-inspiring vista following another. The Chlachain is very close to the station and is ideally placed in the town and of course for the ferry to Skye or Knoydart. We were made very... More

It was very wet and windy on New Years Eve in Mallaig. We wandered around looking at menus for lunch and decided to go into the Chlachain Inn. There was a lovely coal fire burning and the room was full of tasteful festive decoration. The staff were very welcoming and we ordered drinks and food. The Cullen Skink was really... More

Just been to the Chlachain inn, it's cold and wet in Mallaig but this place had the best food and friendliest staff ever. Megan especially. The warm reception was as good as the real fire. A real gem cosy comfortable and great food. We will be back again. As far as Scotland's concerned west IS best arisaig, white sands of... More
