We chose this place because we could smell the coal fire. Upon entering we found a cosy friendly atmosphere. The waitress was friendly and explained to us the meaning of the restaurants Gaelic name. The food was delicious and plentiful.

Had a delicious, perfectly sized, meal of fish & chips while waiting to catch the ferry over to Skye. Log fire and a half pint of cider topped off the perfect meal with Scottish tunes playing in the background and really excellent service. Desperately want to return for one more meal! :D

Great food, even for these people (like me) who do not eat seafood. I even ordered a bit of tomato sauce to have with my hamburger, because it was sooo delicious... Spicy, but not that much. The music selection was also great!

£19 for 4 sliced scallops, 2 slices of black pudding, basic bread and salad. Really pricey and not value for money. I can't believe they can charge so much for so little. Up the coast at applecross it's cheaper and far superior quality. So disappointed with this dinner.

The service was excellent, staff so helpful this is a lovely pub/restaurant will a brilliant coal fire, and they like several other eating places allow well behaved dogs. We had seafood and burger which were well cooked and very tasty. Another place in Mallaig not to be missed.

We asked a local resident to suggest a place where we could get some good food. The suggestion was The Chlachain Inn so off we trotted up the hill. Quite a little climb but well worth it! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming as were the staff who greeted and served us. One of the guests had a food allergy... More

We had done our research prior to our visit to Mallaig on The Jacobite and headed straight for the Chlachain Inn Restaurant as soon as we got off the train. We were not disappointed. The food was amazing, we both went for different mussel dishes and they were both delicious, although I think I probably got the better option with... More
