We stayed in Mallaig for 3 nights and ate at The Steam Inn every evening as we enjoyed the food so much. Good selection and well cooked, I really liked the chicken breast stuffed with chiritzo and mozarella with bean, bacon and potato stew. Good wine selection too.

Decent atmosphere, pricey food considering location, average tasting food, had a pool table but too close to dining guests (woops) but all in all friendly service. Nothing memorable but ok if you're hungry.

As locals we have never eaten in Mallaig but have heard good feedback about the Steam Inn so decided one night last week that we would give it a try. After many years of thinking about it, I finally took the Fort William train to Mallaig and can now see why it's described as one of the world's great railway journeys. Searching around the town for somewhere to lunch, we picked on the Steam Inn. There was a decent menu to choose from but it was always going to be... More

Curry Night Sat 1st Feb. Ordered Chicken Curry and wife ordered Monkfish curry. Small portion for my meal really compared to a take away. Wife's meal also contained Chicken Korma with her Monkfish Curry, she didnt eat it. Shame at £10.95 per plate, it was a waste! My wife told that she had heard the chef speak to her husband... More

Superb fish & chips (locally caught) - just what we needed at the end of a long day of travelling. Enjoyed a couple of Isle of Skye beers (bottled)

There is not much open on a Sunday in Mallag in November but we found this Inn which had really nice fish and chips, curry and beers!

We ate here 2 nights running and had great food in a pleasant atmosphere. Lovely local fish well cooked at a reasonable price. We should have had lunch here too.
