the live fireplace was nice. however, the food was the average pub grub. no drinks menu, and service was slightly on slower side. the ambience was nice though, and it was family friendly

The of langoustines weren't there but have then taken the Scallops wrapped in Bacon: exceptional! Then we have the Fish and chips taken: that was worth a 10/10! If taken, the 12 year old whiskey valve them I also recommended

The scallops were absolutely delicious, wrapped in bacon with a cheese sauce on the side. Very generous portion. The vegetables were a bland and unnecessary side dish. My husband's haddock was good (fabulous tartare sauce). My daughter had two starters. The smoked duck and pear was very much enjoyed. Unfortunately the crab cakes were pretty awful. Tasteless with an odd... More

Great food. Good value. The service was super. Shame no on tap real ale but the bottled stuff was pretty good. Nice coal fire.

Popped in here for a bog standard pub grub, which is what you might expect as it looks like a traditional pub. Inside however it has a bright and modern décor and the menu is a cut above the norm. We both had excellent fresh fish dishes, clearly cooked by someone who knows what they are doing. We ended up... More

The pub i well situated in the center of Mallaig. Close both to the railway station and the ferry from Ardale on Skye.

Friendly staff, warm cosy atmosphere (real fire) and excellent food. Great menu covering all prices. Lots of local seafood if that's what you like and plenty of options if not.

we recently walked the West Highland Way and used many hotel's, B&B's, restaurants and bars along the route. Once we had completed the way we were going to climb Ben Nevis on day 8. Unfortunately blisters and injuries put paid to that, so we had a nice day out on the train to Mallaig instead. We found this lovely little... More

Innovation or invention, call it what you will....the food at the Steam Inn lacks neither quality nor quantity at any time. I doubt very much if anyone could not find something to suit their taste or requirements at any time. Add to this a very keen, attentive staff and there you have it....wonderful! Accomodation is available, which you will find... More
