I had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant last week, and had a wonderful meal - Turbot was featured on the specials board, but as I don't like garlic, I asked my waitress if the dish had been prepared using it - she came back immediately to tell me that the sauce & accompanying courgettes contained garlic - in the... Food here was pretty good. Had a cheesy chicken sandwich and a salad. Nice to have the option of greens over chips (french fries). Wait staff does nothing but bring food. You have to order at the bar and pay there (so you do get out of tipping that way!) and then they bring it to your table. Back patio... More

After taking the short train journey from Fort-William we decided to pop in to the Steam inn for lunch. the light lunch menu is very limited but we were all quite happy to have toasted sandwiches and a Cold pint of Stella to wash it down. The card machine wasn't working as the sign scrawled on the lounge bar door said... Open fire, amazing food with huge portions and the loveliest and friendliest of staff. We dropped in waiting for the boat to Eigg and will be returning again.

A nice little pub, we did not eat but the menu looked ok. The inside of the pub is a bit of a surprise as very modern compared to the outside.

Every time we visit Mallaig, my husband and I eat @ The Steam Inn, the food is always delicious, reasonably priced, the waitresses are very efficient and nothing is a bother, excellent service with a smile from all the girls. Over the years we have tried several other restaurants in Mallaig, but this is now the 'one'.

Looking for a good pint then visit the Steam Inn. Not sure about the food as I didn't eat here but I certainly recommend the pint of beer, or two.

I book for dinner with my family, the service was terrible, maybe because we had dinner at 8:30pm, but booking more than one month before: don't accept bookings if you want to close. As we were the last table we have been abandoned. Food was on the average. It happens.

Not my first visit, nor first review, but well worth the journey from Glasgow. From friendly greeting to fond farewell, all I have to do is relax, enjoy first class cuisine, and the company of lovely people. One innovation since my last visit is the 'tapas' menu. To say 'delicious' is simply not enough. (I'm still trying to get through... More
