What a friendly place Mallaig is very wet and windy January but a warm welcome at the Steam Inn. Extra veggie dishes added to menu at my request kept me coming. What a star waitress, RITA. She remembered what I'd had on previous nights and the service was brilliant. Thanks everyone @ the Steam inn.

Had a lovely meal tonight at the Steam Inn....excellent fish chowder packed full of amazing local seafood including scallops, prawns, mussels and fish. Prawn cocktail fantastic and very good fish and chips. It's the quiet season but we were delighted to find the only place offering food was of such a high standard and good value. Well done to all the staff... More

Lovely atmosphere, kind and welcoming staff, lovely roaring fire and great food. We were a party of 5 adults and 2 children, they accommodated us easily and also did a special meal for our son. Very family friendly. Highly recommend and will visit again when we go to Mallaig next.

We ate here a couple of times and enjoyed both meals. Not fancy but better than normal pub grub! Would return anytime.

Welcoming and warm. Service was slow this evening, however only one waitress/bar staff on duty. The food was out of this world. Highly recommend it.

Twice yearly holiday to Mallaig only to discover our only dining place had closed down (the cabin :( ? ). Went to steam Inn and had great food. What made the night special was the very grumpy fisherman who annoyed the waitress and his fellow workmates ;) keep smiling :(

No matter whether visiting for a coffee or drinks, a snack, or a full meal, the staff are all welcoming and as helpful as possible in every way. When it comes to food, this is undoubtedly THE place to go in Mallaig. Top quality cuisine, pun lunch, snack; no matter, the high level of service goes with it at all... More

This was off season and so was a bit quiet and lacked atmosphere. However service was excellent and the food was lovely especially the local seafood.

Mallaig was pretty busy when we visited but we managed to get the last unreserved table. Good fresh menu and generous helpings. Service a little slow but made up for by the quality of the food and a pretty good atmosphere. Probably the best place for a meal in Mallaig. Will certainly be back.
