Nice ambience, good cold beer and comfy seats. Helluva racket coming from the bar area - think there was either a football match being televised or a riot had broken out! Waiting staff were fine. Good variety of specials. Played safe and went for haddock and chips. Came well presented with garden peas. Haddock portion was a bit small, and... More

On a cold, wet February night in the West Highlands, the bright fire in the dining room of the Steam Inn, Mallaig provided a warm welcome. And the meal that was served provided outstanding value. An emphasis on Mallaig's sea food focused our attention. Among starters, we enjoyed a nutritious fish chowder, a hearty prawn salad, and tasty crab cakes.... More

On a cold wet and windy day this was a very welcome place to visit. The coal fire was burning nicely and the whole place was warm with a good standard of decoration, and was clean. Staff were very pleasant. Haddock and chips, with garden peas, were freshly prepared and good size portions.

The only place opened in February in Mallaig. Fireplace was nice, gave a warm when outside was cold. The service was very good and fast, fish and chips was excellent. Very good value!

the live fireplace was nice. however, the food was the average pub grub. no drinks menu, and service was slightly on slower side. the ambience was nice though, and it was family friendly

The of langoustines weren't there but have then taken the Scallops wrapped in Bacon: exceptional! Then we have the Fish and chips taken: that was worth a 10/10! If taken, the 12 year old whiskey valve them I also recommended

The scallops were absolutely delicious, wrapped in bacon with a cheese sauce on the side. Very generous portion. The vegetables were a bland and unnecessary side dish. My husband's haddock was good (fabulous tartare sauce). My daughter had two starters. The smoked duck and pear was very much enjoyed. Unfortunately the crab cakes were pretty awful. Tasteless with an odd... More

Great food. Good value. The service was super. Shame no on tap real ale but the bottled stuff was pretty good. Nice coal fire.
