We came here off the Jacobite train from Fort William. Checked TA as we arrived in Mallaig for a recommended restaurant and were very pleased we went straight here as they had limited spare tables that weren't reserved. As you only have around 1.5hrs before you leave on the train it pays to get in quick. We all had the... More

If you get the Jacobite train from Fort William day return to Mallaig, don't waste time looking for the one-eyed seal called Nelson. Head straight for this restaurant! Not much to look out from the outside, but great cooking with lots of super-fresh seafood. I have never eaten crab so straight-from-the-sea. Tell the waiter that you are on the 2.30... More

Lovely spot for lunch before the ferry to Skye. Sweet little place overlooking the working harbor with tartan carpets and looking newly renovated. Double glazed windows. Ask for a table by the window to enjoy the view. Excellent fish and chips. The fish was very fresh but the chips a bit greasy. Asian food was very authentic. The pork belly... More

We booked a table for lunch at Cornerstone to fill the wait for our ferry crossing to Skye. A piece of fortuitous foresight as when we arrived in Mallaig the ferry sailings were disrupted due to the weather. Oh the joys of the Western Highlands in July windy, wet but there again no midgies. Once we had climbed the stairs... More

We ate at this place twice and the meals were exellent both times. Also the service was polite and nice. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys fresh seafood.

Enjoyed a lazy, late lunch here on a rainy day while waiting for the train. This second-floor restaurant offers an excellent view of a busy harbor, great for boat- and people-watching. The fish and chips, which is available in small portions, was the best we enjoyed in all of Scotland. The prawn roll, though, was choked in a heavy mayonnaise... More

Our family arrived by train for a brief afternoon visit in Mallaig from 1:30pm-4:00pm on a Wednesday. It was raining and cold when we arrived. We were so grateful to find the Cornerstone. Their beautiful restaurant provided a warm and inviting place for our family to spend our time. We had delicious lunches of fish and chips, venison burger, scampi... More

We had dinner here on 16 July, with a family of 4. The Cornerstone was by far the best restaurant we could enjoy during our 2 weeks holidays trip in Scotland. The food was simply excellent. We opted for a black butter skate, and a Cod fish that were extremely well cooked and tasty, with attention to details in the... More

After a long survey of fish and chips thru-out the UK, this was the best. Probably cooked in canola oil, not lard as Whitby's was. Service was quick and friendly. Be sure to arrive before the train arrives in town and the place fills up.
