Called here on Sunday for a late afternoon meal, the location is lovely the staff were friendly and efficient and the food was good. This is a pub on a tourist route (cyclists), it has a handy little shop tagged on for take away food and bits and bobs, we enjoyed our meals and considered them to be good value,... More

We stopped outside The Fleece for a breather on our cycle ride up to Home Moss this morning, the place was closed so unable to review food, service etc but the plastic flowers in all the hanging baskets and pots outside looked absolutely dreadful and so cheap against a backdrop of incredible beautiful scenery. With less than 6 weeks to... More

Whilst out walking we planned a lunch time halt at The Fleece, internet research revealed that the pub was on the expensive side and our intention was to use the attached shop and pantry. However due to the heavy rain we retreated indoors and enjoyed some good food in pleasant surroundings. Two cheese sandwiches, two portions of chips, two pints... More

I popped in on Saturday lunchtime and was impressed by how lovely the Fleece Inn is inside. There was an open fire going and quite a few people eating. I ordered a Turkey sandwich and asked for English mustard on it. The sandwich was lovely as was the beer. Alas there was no mustard in the sandwich but it was... More

I have just had Sunday lunch here with my family, the food was really nice and there was plenty of choice, although it would have been nice to see some chicken dishes on the menu or specials board. Between us we sampled a few different dishes and everyone enjoyed it. However, there are few little things that did disappoint me... More

Fleece Pasta Party! on the Friday that we arrived at the fleece, was with the in laws and our baby. Lovely selection of pastas, huge portions, got side orders of beautiful twice cooked chips that were excellent but unnecessary as the pasta portion was so generous. My wife and fatherinlaw had ribeye steaks that looked great and we're perfectly cooked.... More

Holme village is a lovely spot - the last bit of inhabited valley before the Pennine hills. It's beautiful. And the Fleece is a great place to stop for a drink and a bite. Nice atmosphere. Not a gastro pub in any sense, or a trendy venue. It's a country pub with hearty, straightforward and nicely made meals and a... More

Called for lunch recently and was appalled at how this place has gone downhill. We ordered a sausage sandwich to share at a jaw dropping £8.50. It came with a little salad garnish and a few crisps and took 45 minutes to serve. Bar service is poor too with no one in regular attendance as they appear to double up... More

My second visit to the Fleece. I can't recommend it highly enough. Fabulous atmosphere, staff and food. The food was outstanding and the menu has something for everyone.
