Very nice family meal

Called with my wife and two young children early Friday evening. Plenty of place to sit so took our choice. Good selection of specials on the blackboard, vegetarians have their own menu as do gluten free customers, plenty to choose from all the menus. I went for the steak and ale pie, chips and... read more

After a particularly long journey home my partner and I were getting hungry and had a craving for a roast dinner. We called from the car on our way over and they kindly accommodated us despite being packed to the rafters. We shared the pate and the mushrooms in a cream sauce as starters. I then had a gorgeous pork... More

As a resident of Holmfirth I have visited the fleece in Holme on many occasions and can highly recommend It for great home cooked food and a warm welcome from Shirley and her team. The menu is extensive and the chefs work hard to provide a variable menu with good home cooked pub food with a gastronomic twist to it.... More

We found the fleece completely by accident being on our way from North Wales to Sheffield and looking for somewhere to have a break from the appalling weather. I'm not sure I could find it again in daylight but I should like to! We happened to turn up on curry night but I had a baked Camembert and belly pork... More

What a lovely Country Pub & Restaurant The Fleece is. Dropped by for a drink on our way home from a weekend visit at Holmfirth, and we will be back in the summer to eat. The decor is quaint and old, there are plenty of tables for families, and with it being in the hills dogs are welcome. The menus... More

Went for lunch with a friend and had the sea bass which was absolutely delicious, love the side orders which come with the dish. The lady on a Weds Lunchtime is always helpful and happy to request any preferences with the chef as sometimes we'll just have a salad. Nothing's too much trouble.

Booked a table and had a choice when we got there. Menu is huge! bar food, starters, vegetarian menu, gluten free menu, specials menu, desert menu. Had the mussels and chips, large serving. Pork belly with black pudding mash. Tiramisu and cheesecake fab! Posh ice cream also on the menu. Great surrounds, great staff.

Popped up after a nice walk with a friend on tuesday. Older lady behind the bar was friendly and helpful, good choice of ales. All lighter/blonde ales but I guess it's just what they have in. Chose the pie, stuffed with chunks of beef which were some tender and flavoursome. Shortcrust pastry is a must and the Chef got it... More

We've been here a fair few times - pie night on a Thursday is good and there is a quiz too. The normal menu is a touch expensive and has risen over the last few years without any major changes/improvements to food/menu in my opinion.

We go to The Fleece about once a year - for a reason. We love the location - a real moorland site - the decor and the atmosphere, great both on sunny days and on rainy days. However, we make it just the once per year because I have to say that, compared with other pub eating and drinking options... More
