Started with being offered a few tastes of some local ales by very friendly lady. Then upstairs to the sunday carvery and the 'restaurant' area. Were given a lovely table for two in the window overlooking the dales. Carvery excellent with good choice of vegetables at a very acceptable price.

Booked a table for two thinking we were dining in a restaurant. Given a table in a noisy bar with disco type background music. Ordered two steak meals at £12.45? each Steaks were good but the rest left a lot to be desired. Anorexic onion rings, diabolical chips, black grilled tomato all presented like a transport cafe grill. Disappointing and... More

Been here twice now within the last month. The location is nice enough but the food is really quite basic. The older lady serving our drinks continuously licked spilt drinks off her fingers inbetween pulling pints etc and although she was obviously popular with the locals it really made me cringe and I was quite relived whe I realised she... Came here for a meal for 4 lateish on a Thursday night but it may have appeared the kitchen staff were eager to go home early! 3 meals came with no real issues but one of the meals (salmon) was presumably a birds eye boil in the bag that hadn't been cooked for long enough as it was completely raw... Chose this as it looked the least busy of all the pubs on a the Leyburn 1940s vintage weekend and it had a good view of the market square. Ordered Steak and Ale Pies which were fine served with hand made chips and veg. Kids menu was also good value. They'd run out of a couple of the hand pulled... More

Popped in here on Tuesday for a bite to eat. From the outside it looks lovely and clean but looks can be deceptive!! The food for the price was very poor I ordered the steak and my wife ordered the steak and ale pie the steak was cooked perfect but was too salty the pie crust was rock hard but... More

I have visited this restaurant for the sunday carvery on several occasions, the last being fathers day, june 15th.2014. There is a choice of 4 meats, i.e. Beef, Pork, Roast Ham or Turkey and they have always been of exceptional quality. The choice of vegetables is great and their roast potatoes are just superb. To top it off, at £8.95... More
