We have just returned from an Easter break in Leyburn and visited the Bolton Arms on a couple of evenings just for drinks. A fine imposing building but looks can be deceiving. The inside is tired, weary and soulless . When we tried to get served with drinks (and the place wasn't full) the bar... read more

Popped in here on our way over the dales. Looks great form the outside, perhaps not reflected in the interior. Staff were very pleasant, food came quickly. All was home cooked and quite tasty. They're not going to win any awards but they aren't too bad. Price is a little steep for what you get but I've had much worse.

Having been told about the remark on here about the carvery , I felt that I would put on my own experience, I would not normally got to this level but I find the remarks made unjust. We go frequently to this carvery as it is by far the best for choice, quality and price. For £7.90 there is a... More

Walked in & walked back out again, was so disappointed. Looks can be deceiving, lovely grand building, I expected a luxurious bar/restaurant and was welcomed by a grubby, dark dated Interior. The smell of a old nursing home sent us back out the door immediately. Yack!

Called for Sunday Lunch whilst passing through the Dales. As previous reviewers have remarked building stands impressive at head of market square, it's only on walking inside you realise how dated the interior is and also scruffy and dirty. Dinning room is on the upper floor with a carvery lunch served by a man with no sense of humour or... More

We visited for lunch. impressive building from the outside, but really disappointing on the inside. Needs a good deep clean, and softening up of the surrounding. Tables and chairs felt grimly and the place smells of wet dog. Dog hairs stuck all over the old carpet. Toilets, floor and walls need a good clean with bleach and there was no... More

Before going to see Middleham Castle (which is a must visit), we stopped off in Leyburn for some lunch at The Bolton Arms. Old fashioned pub that has "character" but is looking rather stale and dated. Very quiet for a Saturday afternoon. Menu for the lunch was reasonably varied and the prices were mid-range. Not cheap (about £10 per meal)... More

The place looks a bit tired and in need of some refurbishment. I ate here with a group of friends on Friday night. the place was empty but we'd booked a table (apparently there's no decent places to eat in Leyburn and it was the best of a bad bunch). I chose Lasagne although had to change to Veggie Lasagne... More

We walked in and walked out, the smell of stale oil was definitely off-putting. Not to be recommended on the smell alone.
