Came here as another choice opens only in the evenings. Whilst let down elsewhere I knew this place would be welcoming & worthwhile: it was. My friend and I arrived a tad after 1pm and enjoyed both a homemade burger and beef sandwiches (with coleslaw + salad) washed down with good beer. The barman and waiter were pleasant and helpful.... we went here for a treat whilst visiting relatives in the Yorkshire dales. What a hidden treasure, decor was really fab, service and food of a high standard average prices, good choice on menu, would definitely recommend booking in busy summer periods attached to a golf course so could visualise this being very busy off locals and visitors alike.

My wife and I have frequented the Friars head since we were newly married, we haven't been for a while after having a disappointing visit a few years back! I have to say we revisited last night and I am glad to say I was not disappointed the food was great and the service was too. I will definitely return.

This is a great place to have a leisurely meal. The conservatory is an excellent environment where grapes grow above your head. The choice of meals is good and the food is fine although not exceptional. Prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly and helpful. Worth a visit for the setting alone.

We have been spending our summer hols in the Dales for the last 4-5 years and we would drop in at Akebar once or twice a week to use the driving range. Never eaten there before but we decided to give it a try this time around as the menu on the blackboard looked so inviting !! Well, we weren't... More
