We have visited twice now because we had such a luxurious experience. Enjoyed the ten course taster menu which was pure decadence but also really fun to eat, we spent 4 hours (!) giggling like children over our dinner and were made to feel extremely welcome and well looked after. We returned for our anniversary and had 6 courses which... More

We were staying in Helmsley as a base during Le Tour de France in Yorkshire and selected this as a lovely looking place to have a birthday dinner. We were not disappointed. Very welcoming, fabulous service and great selection. Thought the pricing was good, given the quality of the food. Can really recommend the Yorkshire Duck and the Feather of... More

Very stylish old hotel, comfy sofas & chairs to peruse the menu. A la carte or 2 courses for £25. Food superb, but need to book to get your preferred time in high season. The chocolates that came with coffee were divine!

Just spent two nights dinner, bed & breakfast and my wife and I were very impressed with the attention to detail in every respect. Our suite was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The staff throughout the hotel were professional but very friendly and accommodating. The evening meal was very differently presented but the quality and taste was always excellent. Breakfast... We had the tasting menu with accompanying wines. The food was amazing with great variety in taste and texture between the dishes. The wines perfectly matched and served by competent and knowledgeable staff. All staff, including the restaurant manager, were friendly and chatty and made every effort to make us feel welcome, at ease and able to fully enjoy the... More

We were passing through Helmsley and decided to stop by The Black Swan and we're so glad we did! We went into the bar area with our dog and straight away she was given a bowl of water- it was even a pink bowl! All the staff made a fuss of our dog and she was treated like royalty- which... More

Having spent most of Sunday in Helmsley, my partner & I decided to have Afternoon Tea in the garden of the Black Swan. Although the service was a bit hap hazard, we were given wrong drinks, then asked for sweeteners and had to ask a second time, only 3 small sandwiches each - cakes were very nice, at £19+ each... We are staying for a few days in Helmsley - I used Tripadvisor to review the restaurants. The Black Swan had good reviews but the experience surpassed our expectations. We opted for the two course menu but then decided to go for 3 courses. I had the smoked salmon pate with warm fresh bread, delicious. Then for the main course... More

Stopped for a quick lunchtime snack in lovely Helmsley on the South West corner of the North Yorks Moors. Very pleasant and efficient staff running this tea room as part of the Black Swan Hotel. Food delicious, spotlessly clean - a speciality seemed to be afternoon tea but from what we ate and other food that we saw, could recommend... More
