Popped in here on way out of castle as it's just down the lane. The cakes were yummy and they had a large selection. Different types of coffee and teas on offer. Great if you have a pram as loads of room. No toilets but no problem as some just round the corner in the car park with baby changer... More

Clearly the main draw of this cafe is the ice cream, which certainly looked fantastic, but as we didn't sample any my review is restricted solely to the food and drink side of the enterprise. One of the great joys of days out is the opportunity to sample various tea rooms and cafes, and Helmsley is certainly not short of... More

Ryeburns is located in Cleveland Street in Helmsley - near the main car parking area. It is very conveniently located both for motorists and for people who are walking the Cleveland Way Long-Distance Footpath - which passes right in front of the tea-room. We called into this delightful establishment after finishing a 15-mile trek on the North York Moors -... More

On a recent trip to Helmsley in the baking sunshine we visited Ryeburns on the way back to the car (the parlour is right near the main car park) and we were not disappointed. We were so pleased that we hadn't had desserts with our lunch because we got to sample some wonderful ice creams and took home some lovely... More

I went here specifically after reading all the positive reviews here on Trip Advisor. I had a delicious whisky flavoured ice cream. They also sell home-made chocolates, which looked divine and some scrummy looking cakes.

Excellent sandwiches, tailor made knickerbocker glories were heavenly, service excellent. Reading the one poor review on here, all I can say is you must have been in the wrong place then, because we couldn't have been happier with the service and quality of the fare today. Well worth the visit for the ice cream alone!

Called in for an ice cream on a real hot day and sat outside. My husband had the Jaffa cake flavour and I went for the apricot and ginger both fabulous. They were £1.50 each which we thought was good value it was hard choosing from all the different flavours cannot wait to go again. The service was first class... More

Not visited the tea room but would recommend the yummy ice cream. There is a wide choice of sizes and cones but whichever you choose the ice cream is superb.

We found this place by accident when returning to the car park in Helmsley - it is a little hidden away but definitely worth finding........I've never known my husband to have more than 1 scoop/ serving of ice cream before. On this occasion we each had 3 different flavours and enjoyed every bit of it. The 'Fig it Out' was... More
