We had booked for a Saturday evening meal to celebrate a birthday. The atmosphere was welcoming and the staff attentive. The food and service were excellent. Post dinner drinks in the bar acquainted us with 'Jack', a very well behaved and friendly dog together with our hosts the new landlord and his wife. Having spent a number of years in... More

I was part of a group of about 30 people and found that the meal was good considering the difficulty of producing a large number of hot meals for a big group. Portions were generous and the food was well cooked on the whole although the vegetables had suffered from being kept hot and Yorkshire puddings were difficult to eat... More

This was our first lunch at Cockhaven Manor since the new regime took over. The menu is now much shorter but still offered a well balanced choice of standard and special dishes. The main courses we chose of bass fillet and venison steak were very well cooked and my venison steak sauce was particularly good. Like many other pub restaurants... More

This was our first visit to Cockhaven Manor, which was recommended by our neighbours. We chose two courses; my wife having smoked mackerel and walnut pate while I had the fresh fruit cocktail for starters, followed by roast pork and roast beef, both with Yorkshire pudding. The meats were cooked well and the portions were generous and served with five... More

We recently went for a work Christmas meal at Cockhaven Manor. As we had prebooked our menu choices there was very little wait. From the choices available I chose the prawn cocktail starter, turkey for mains and profiteroles for dessert. This was followed with the usual coffee and mint. So, the starter was 'light' so I was hoping for quality.... More

We booked for lunch, no greeting, freezing cold, well the door was wide open in November. The food, £13 for 3 courses plus coffee seemed like an offer too good to be true, it was. I had an ice puck for starters (rock hard fish cake) followed by tasteless pie. My wife's turkey was served cold, probably because the door... More

Took some friends to celebrate our Ruby Wedding Anniversary on a Saturday evening.I happened to mention that when I booked the table and it had a big heart balloon on it when we arrived. The staff were very welcoming when we got there and we were brought drinks while we ordered our meal. We ordered our food which was from a... More

Having lived in this area as a teenager it was a nostalgic drive along the windy lanes of Bishopteignton where the local youth club was our regular meeting place. We were staying for one night and were shown to a very pleasant, light, bright, clean room overlooking the garden. We had planned to eat later in one of our favourite... More

This is my third visit to Cockhaven Manor, all three was worth it,especially today for Sunday roast,we have tried many places for Sunday roast and at last we have found somewhere that fits the bill for an excellent roast. The menu was 3 courses and coffee to end,and all for excellent value of £13 per head, unbelievable. The service was superb and the young... We dropped in on a Friday evening quite early and were shown at once to a table. We had barely sat down when we were brought iced water and a bread basket. The menu was set out innovatively on boards and neatly divided into starters mains and desserts. The spelling of some items was imaginative. Our drinks and food were brought... More
