Great pub

We were staying in Portmagee and this place was walking distance from our B&B. Glad we came here. We had an early dinner, and the food was fantastic. Service was fine. We went out for some walking/hiking on Valentia island and then came back here for evening drinks and entertainment. I'm glad we... read more

Visited this pub for dinner on Mon 27th and had a lovely meal and a pleasant evening. However, we returned on Wed 29th and met a different scenario. Our intro, as we were waiting for a table, was the 'New' Manager coming in the door behind the queue shouting "Get out of the way folks". His name was Kieran or... More

Had drinks and then dinner on another evening in the bridge bar . Food was ok , for a fishing village I thought it could have been better . Just a typical tourist pub catering to what they think makes an "Irish" bar . We felt the service was poor and a bit rushed at times , maybe because we... More

Was fortunate to have a chance to eat here one very fine evening during my recent holiday in South Kerry. To sum up - an excellent meal, good service, good atmosphere and very reasonably priced. If going, be sure and go early though as there appeared to be a number of groups waiting for a table by 7.30/8 the evening... More

We ordered lemon sole, steak, and small roast and salmon for the kids. The staff, were polite and helpful and the food was quick to come. The staff loved the kids and i would definitely say that this is a very family friendly bar that's worth a visit.

We stumbled on this place whilst driving round the Ring of Kerry and were greeted with a cheery, "Alright, lads!" which pleased my dad who is 91. My fish and chips and my dad's muscles were both excellent and the service very smooth. Recommended!

We had to eat at the bar because the place was so packed, which wouldn't have been a big deal if the food had been better. I had mussels, which were fine, and my husband had a burger for lack of a better choice on the menu. This was really one of our most disappointing meals during our two-week trip... More

This is obviously a highly successful operation with everything very slick. The bar area is busy and best to eat early if you don't want to wait. No reservations in the bar. Things less hectic (but more expensive) in the restaurant next door which does take bookings. Slickly managed and orchestrated with very good service which is quick but friendly... More

Great food, great company, fantastic atmosphere. And they accept Debit/Credit cards which is a relief when you have dished out your av available cash to the B & B who won't accept cards. There is no ATM in Valentia but Post Office in Portmagee will cash AIB cards
